Yangchan Tulou! The Potala Palace on the high mountains of Southern Anhui

Yangchan Tulou is located in Yangchan Village, Shendu Town, Shexian County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. It is an ancient village built along the mountains in the mountainous area of Southern Anhui. Through the narrow mountain paths, a sudden clearing appears~ The layered earth houses are built along the mountain, as if you have arrived at a paradise on earth. Yangchan Village is an ancient village with a long history, inhabited by the Zheng family. The Zheng family moved from the north of Shexian to Dingtan during the Song Dynasty, and later moved to Yangchan, descendants of Zheng Banzhou, who was a notable figure. Legend has it that Zheng Gong, while hunting in Yangchan, followed his hunting dogs and lay in a depression in the mountains of Yangchan, unwilling to return. Seeing the mountains surrounding the area, the clear mountain springs, and the ancient towering trees, after several inspections, he deemed it a feng shui treasure land and decided to move and settle in Yangchan. Due to its high terrain and inconvenient transportation, the mountain people used local materials, paving roads and building bridges with nearby bluestone, and constructing nests with red soil and timber. They worked from sunrise to sunset, drank from the mountain springs when thirsty, and ate grains when hungry.
