Zhagana in southern Gansu, the garden of the gods

Zhā (zhā) gǎ (gǎ) in Tibetan means 'stone box', which refers to a natural stone city located more than 30 kilometers northwest of Diebu County in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, in a village called Yiwu. In Tibetan, it also means 'stone box'. The terrain resembles a grandiose giant palace as well as a natural rock wall formation. Zhagana is characterized by its majestic mountains, swirling clouds and mists, and a landscape akin to a fairyland. The Tibetan village harmoniously integrates various productive activities such as nomadic herding, farming, hunting, and wood gathering, serving as a model for the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.
