St. Andrew's Church

St. Andrew's Cathedral is located on Coleman Street in Singapore's Civic and Cultural District. It is the largest Anglican church in Singapore. Designed and built by Colonel Ronald MacPherson in 1856 to replace the old church built in memory of Sir Stamford Raffles, the entire building belongs to the early English Gothic architecture. The clean and bright exterior walls are one of the most impressive features of St. Andrew's Cathedral. After more than a hundred years of vicissitudes, it still shines brightly, "just like flawless youth". Legend has it that St. Andrew's Cathedral, known for its snow-white skin, is made by grinding shells into ash, adding protein and sugar to make a paste, and then soaking it in soft coconut shells. It is a practical and beautiful plaster. When applied to the surface of the building, it is not easy to crack and is white and shiny. Its pursuit and persistence of purity and beauty in the world make passers-by stop and admire, make extravagance and restlessness retreat, and make restless souls find a moment of peace. Every person who sees its white spire from afar, and every person who passes by it, can hear it whispering in their ear, "Come with me secretly to the wilderness and rest for a while."
