Lingering Garden. Lingering Garden is a renowned classical garden, one of the four most famous gardens in China. The Lingering Garden is known for its exquisite architectural layout and abundance of unique rocks, ranking alongside Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden, Beijing's Summer Palace, and Chengde's Mountain Resort as one of the four great gardens of China. It was originally the private garden of Xu Taishi, the Minor Minister of the Imperial Stud, called 'East Garden', and later came into the possession of Liu Shu, who renamed it 'Cold Green Mountain Villa' after rebuilding it and bringing in twelve famous peaks, and it was known externally as 'Liu Garden'. It was then acquired by Sheng Kang from Changzhou, who repaired and expanded it, and renamed it 'Lingering Garden' as a homophone of 'Liu Garden'. The peak is greyish-white, slightly arched, and grand, perfectly embodying the qualities of being open, transparent, slender, and upright, making it a top-grade stone. It is named for its towering peak, which spreads out like a crown. 2 Nanmu Hall This is the common name for the Wufeng Xian Pavilion in the garden. The interior decoration of the hall is extremely exquisite, and the furnishings are very elegant, earning it the reputation of 'the number one hall in the south of the Yangtze River'. It is named Nanmu Hall because the beams, columns, and furniture are all made of nanmu wood. 3 Fish Fossil Located in a rectangular glass frame in the Guanyun Building, the stone surface is 4.6 meters long and 1.25 meters wide, containing more than 20 fossils of the fish species Middle Kyphosus, which are over 140 million years old, making it a very rare and precious ornamental treasure.
