Zhai Family Courtyard in Hubu Mountain

The main gate of Zhai Family Courtyard is located on Zhuangyuan Street, and the whole is located on the east slope of Hubu Mountain, with Yu Family Courtyard and Zheng Family Courtyard on both sides. The Zhai family originated from Shanxi, belonged to Jin merchants. In the early Qing Dynasty, when they first came to Xuzhou, there were six brothers. Business was the strength of Jin merchants. They started with small trades in Xuzhou. After several generations of hard work, by the mid-Qing Dynasty, they had become the rich in Xuzhou city, which can be described as wealthy. At that time, the Shi family officials had an accident, their property was confiscated, and the house was auctioned. The Zhai family bought this mansion. The Zhai Family Courtyard goes up along the mountain. At the highest point, there is a pavilion. This pavilion is the Banyun Pavilion, which was built in the early Qing Dynasty. When Emperor Qianlong went to Jiangnan and passed Xuzhou, he ascended to this high platform on Hubu Mountain. At that time, the mountain was shrouded in clouds and mist, and the clouds drifted over the pavilion. Seeing this scene, Qianlong named this pavilion 'Banyun Pavilion'. Since then, this place has often gathered literati and scholars to chant poems and compose music.
