Discover the Charm of Bugis
#singapore
Bugis is a vibrant district in Singapore known for its shopping, dining, and cultural attractions. Here are some things I like to do in Bugis:
Cultural Sites: Visit the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple, a serene Buddhists & Taoists temple, a stunning piece of architecture, and learn about the cultural heritage of the area.
Bugis Street Art: This colorful alleyway is lined with unique street art. It's a great place for shopping for fresh fruits and Instagram-worthy photos.
Shopping: Bugis Street is famous for its street market with a wide variety of clothing, accessories, and souvenirs at affordable prices. You can also explore Bugis Junction, a mall with numerous retail stores.
Food and Dining: Bugis offers a wide range of dining options, from local hawker food stalls to international cuisine. Along the way to the temple, there is a Albert Centre food court. Be sure to try some local dishes like fried You Tiao and porridge.

Hidden Street Art at Bugis
While Bugis Street is renowned for its bustling marketplace and vibrant street life, there’s a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by art enthusiasts—hidden street art.
Bugis’ mural-covered streets are a testament to the precinct’s artistic spirit, where colorful paintings and creative expressions adorn walkways, turning them into open-air galleries / photo spot.
At the side walkway of Bugis Street you’ll find a hidden street art among the market’s vibrant stalls.
Art lovers and travelers will surely be inspired to explore the lesser-known artistic side of Bugis Street and appreciate the beauty of street art in an unexpected setting.

Trendy Apparel Street
#mysgmemories #tripblazers
The bugis Street is one that is always crowded with people especially during the weekends. I love to visit here to check out appreals on sales. You can even bargain with them if you are buying more pieces. It brings back my memories when I was still a student, the place was still not air-conditioned. It was very hot and we had to go to the second level to enjoy the cool air. But now, we can have a cooling shopping experience at both levels. You can get trendy clothing and accessories here too. There is a fitting room at almost every shop, so you can try on the clothing without any issue. Be sure to grab some super good deals from the bugis Street, which is just a few minutes walk from the bugis mrt station.

Bugis Street, popular with both locals and tourists…with plenty of eating options to keep shoppers satisfied.😋👏🏻👏🏻Take a break from the hustle and bustle and check out Singapore's best-kept hot-spot location and hidden gem…
There’s an alley @Bugis Street, which is kept well maintained and clean.😊👍🏻Surprise that, we found a cafe Mr.Burger in the alley! I loved the most…the spiral staircases, a great spot to have photograph captured.
😊👍🏻👍🏻newly painted colourful murals was found at the alley, some murals were still in the midst of painting, make the alley looks great and fantastic! #hiddengem

The Bugis Street market (which gets pumping in the afternoon) is a very fun market - lots of delicious things to eat and drink, busy but not overwhelming for the kids, good combo of inside and outside stalls, plus a lovely feeling of locals shopping plus tourists visiting. It's a very great place to buy souvenirs for people especially in bulk since you can buy many items for very affordable prices.
I personally like this Market a-lot, cheap good quality, many stuff , three floor, here you can take around, explore & buy happily, I bought many things there, you should visit this place when you are in Singapore.

Everyone in singapore is mostly about cafe hopping, foodie trail explorations and greenery.
What about the local traditional temples to visits? Where one can see the beautifully man made structures and craftsmanship showcasing the different altars and gods. Head to Kwan Im Thong Hood which was established in 1884 but was being reconstructed in 1985. Learn about the different deities being enshrined, the history behind this temple.
There is also an Indian temple called Sri Krishnan Temple located just 50m away from the Chinese temple. This Indian temple is a national monument of Singapore which was established in 1870. This temple is known for its celebration of both deepavali and Krishna Jayanthi. Also beautiful sculptured with deities on the outside of the temple.
Also to add, there are alot of vendors selling flowers for worship where you could get to just have some blessings from the temples.
This is a must visit and an exploration unique to many which is worth a visit.

Heritage Ang Ku Kueh
Address: 235 Victoria St, Singapore 188027
At Bugis Street shop house is one of the popular heritage brand Ang ku kueh stores, Ji Xiang. Known for their handmade thin chewy mochi skin and lots of fillings, there's usually a queue at this store whenever I pass by.
I got their super colourful rainbow Ang ku kueh (with peanut fillings), and they look so pretty. Taste wise, it's actually the same as the usual peanut Ang ku kueh, but price wise, it's actually 3x of the usual Ang ku kueh from Ji Xiang.
I had also gone to their workshop last year and learnt more about their history and also learnt how to make Ang ku kueh using the mould provided.

Heritage shophouses
Address - Purvis Street, Bugis
Purvis Street is one of the three historically significant streets that formed the Hainan enclave in Singapore back in the day! The other two streets were Seah Street and Middle Road, where immigrants from Hainan settled and housed themselves in. This was the supposed birthplace of Singapore’s iconic Hainanese chicken rice that we all know and love.
Today, these shophouses have had their exterior facades conserved as part of government efforts to preserve our national heritage, but with much needed touch-ups of course. Here, you will find a multitude of cafes and restaurants serving a variety of cuisines.

Raffles Hospital
Address: 585 North Bridge Road Raffles Hospital, 188770
This is one of the many hospitals in Singapore and it is conveniently located in bugis. It is a private hospital and I am sharing my health check up experience over here. There are several hotels around Raffles Hospital and I will recommend you Andaz Singapore and Village Hotel Bugis for a staycation after your health check up. I do my health checkup annually and have also stayed at Andaz and Village Hotel bugis after my hospital visit. The entire duration needed was about 3-4 hours. As you need to fast before coming here, I will recommend you to book for 8am time slot, their earliest time slot. You will have to choose their executive health screening then you will be able to have a bento meal after your tests. It used to be a buffet meal but because of covid so it has been replaced by bento. From the refreshments area, you will be able to see Village hotel Bugis’s pool. Everything is fast-free here and you can enjoy your staycation right after your health checkup.

The bugis street art is a place where you can take beautiful pictures here. When I went there on a Sunday evening, I can see several tourists busy taking pictures of those art piece with their friends and family members. Those art piece is very interesting. They showcases some of the activities that you can do at the bugis street. You can do your manicure here, shop for your favorites shirt, shop for fresh fruits here too. The bugis street is definitely a great place for everyone to shop. You can buy some snacks while shopping and enjoy it while walking around.

Come and join in the fun at Bugis Street Chinese New Year bazaar, immerse yourself with many CNY goodies and snacks and get your 2024 Chinese Zodiac fortune reading. Be sure to take a selfie with Mr God of Fortune to get huatness for the long long year. I always love the vibes at CNY markets and you can get many CNY paper cutting and decorations too. It is always a tradition for me to visit CNY markets especially on the eve of CNY, this is also a good time to buy goodies for cheap. Then everyone can celebrate their 15 days of CNY in good fortune. In Singapore, we only have 2 days of public holidays for CNY and this year one of the public holiday is on Sunday, so the following Monday is also another public holiday. What a long weekend in the long year!

Happening pop-in the hidden-gem at night, the Back Alley @Bugis Street. Surprisingly, it was well decorated, stunning in the night!👍🏻⭐️✨we were attracted by the sparkling LED lighting along the alley’s wall, such a wonderful decoration while strolling along the street. Overall, the nearby buildings’ structure was nice, with the colourful spiral staircases along the alley. It’s a great landmark and instagram-worthy for photo-shooting.💫💫💫Concurrently, there’s a Chinese live band for the lovely night, during our visit. Thumbs up for the cleanliness, the street was clean and well-maintained.💖💕

An afternoon walk at Bugis
People always say that there is nothing much to do in Singapore but it is not true.
Last weekend, we had an afternoon to spare and went Bugis for a short area immersion.
Areas visited:
Bugis Street
This street offers a lot of cheap and trendy clothes and accessories, perfect for teenagers.
Albert Centre
After shopping, you could come and enjoy the delectable food before continuing on.
Bras Basah
This is a good place to score some secondhand books. They also have a few stores offering art suppliers here.
Temples
To understand more about the culture, you need to experience it. An Indian and Chinese temple is located side by side, which displays Singapore’s harmony among the different races and religion.

Singapore's Busiest Walking Shopping Street
Bugis Walking Street is a bustling shopping paradise in the heart of Singapore. As one of the city's busiest and most vibrant pedestrian streets, it offers an exhilarating shopping and cultural experience.
The first thing that strikes you when you arrive at Bugis Walking Street is the lively atmosphere. The street is lined with colorful stalls, each offering a diverse range of products, from trendy fashion apparel to quirky accessories and unique souvenirs. It's a shopaholic's dream come true, with something to suit every taste and budget.
Food enthusiasts will also be in their element here. Bugis Walking Street boasts a mouthwatering array of street food stalls and food courts serving up a tantalizing selection of local and international cuisines. Whether you're craving traditional Singaporean dishes like Hainanese chicken rice or want to explore international flavors, you won't leave hungry.
One of the highlights of Bugis Walking Street is its blend of cultures. The street reflects Singapore's rich multicultural heritage, with a mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Western influences evident in the products and food on offer. This diversity adds to the charm and uniqueness of the place.
The street truly comes alive in the evening when the neon lights illuminate the area, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. Street performers, musicians, and artists often entertain the crowds, adding to the overall ambiance.
However, with its popularity comes the drawback of crowds, especially on weekends. Navigating through the throngs of shoppers can be challenging, and it's advisable to visit during off-peak hours if you prefer a more relaxed shopping experience.

Comfort hawker food
Located near the Bugis Street area where Hotel G is situated, this local hawker food stall has one of the yummiest ban mee, or noodle dish. It is so fragrant and flavourful, very well-made. It is even better because the price of it is affordable, especially for a meal in the town area. Definitely worth a try if you’re somewhere nearby!
