Encountered a beautiful hot spring waterfall while hiking in the secret realm of Gaoligong Mountain in Tengchong, Yunnan
⛰️Gaoligong Mountain is located in the Nujiang Grand Canyon, situated on the west bank of the Nujiang River, and is a national nature reserve. The reserve is 9 kilometers wide from east to west, 135 kilometers long from south to north, with a total area of 120,000 hectares. The mountain is steep, with peaks and valleys arranged alternately from south to north, featuring a very typical vertical landscape of high mountain canyons and a rich variety of animal and plant resources. This is a gem in the Hengduan Mountains, with a forest coverage rate of 85%. The complex terrain and diverse ecological environment of the high mountain canyons provide favorable conditions for various animals and plants from bottom to top.
💃Hiking: Enter from Baihualing Village, which is also one of the few hiking routes currently preserved in Gaoligong. The whole journey takes about 2h to complete, which is very friendly in terms of distance and intensity for urban people. However, the terrain is not the regular 'uphill on the way there, downhill on the way back', but rather undulating all the way, so sweating is also intermittent. Remember to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, jackets...
🐦Bird watching: It is one of the most classic bird watching destinations in Yunnan, and also an important stopover and station on the ancient Silk Road crossing Gaoligong Mountain. Every year, many bird watching enthusiasts come here to stay for a long time, with various professional equipment. Baihualing also has several dedicated bird watching spots;
💦💦Hot springs: Yin and Yang Valley Hot Springs, located in the core scenic area of the eastern slope of Gaoligong Mountain. Due to the lower terrain of Yin and Yang Valley and the shelter of high mountain vegetation, the sun can only shine on half of the area all day. The mountains and valleys are cut by the sunlight into a wonderful chiaroscuro sketch. The illuminated part is green and bright, and the backlit part is deep and dark, forming a spectacle of yin and yang opposition. It is about 5 kilometers walk from Yutang Village to the hot spring;
💰Charges: 15 yuan for outsiders, 5 yuan for people from Mangkuan Township, and no charge for villagers.

Showering under the waterfall, freedom is eternal! Hiking in the Gaoligong Mountain primitive forest
Before departure, I asked several travel agencies, and the five-kilometer route was quoted at 480 yuan/person and 360 yuan/person including meals.
And I was told that I could only follow the group, and I couldn't enter the primitive forest if I drove by myself.
Although I brought all the hiking equipment this time, I still didn't dare to take risks with two children, fearing that I couldn't get in after driving for several hours, and the children would be disappointed.
Finally, I chartered a car in Heshun Ancient Town (200 yuan per person, at least three people, if less than 3 people, it is calculated as 600 yuan. The driver is very good and took us to Baihualing. Although it is a bit more expensive than renting a car and driving by myself, it saves a lot of effort, and the road conditions near the Nujiang River are very poor).
I chose the most conservative Baihualing.
Baihualing is a very mature hiking route, and you can easily reach the scenic spot by navigating directly to 'Baihualing'.
There is a parking lot after entering the scenic spot. As long as you take out your own garbage, you can park for free, and the entrance fee is 15 yuan/person.
The biggest highlight of this route is a large waterfall and a natural hot spring. It is recommended to go to the waterfall first and then come out from the hot spring. In this way, there are more downhill walks and it is not so tiring.
The whole journey is shown in two steps, just 5 kilometers, the highest altitude is 1680 meters, and it is very easy to walk.
We set off from Heshun Ancient Town, passed through Longjiang Grand Bridge and Nujiang River along the way, and experienced four cycles of rainy day-sunny day-rainy day-sunny day in one day, and the road was full of clouds and fog, which was breathtaking!
One third of the journey can reach the first large waterfall. Friends with good skills can directly go down to the stream and walk on the eaves from the stones to stand under the waterfall and take beautiful photos. People like me with average skills can just take a few photos on the opposite side of the waterfall. Although I went down to the stream, I didn't dare to go there, the stones were very slippery.
Reminder: You can bring a swimsuit, there is a small stone house for changing clothes, but the sanitary conditions are worrying.
Walk about half an hour further, you can see the pure natural sulfur pool hot spring. People who didn't bring swimsuits, yes, it's me, and my friends, can only soak their feet here, it's super invincible to relieve fatigue!
It's hard to imagine how comfortable it would be to soak in the pool for half an hour!
In addition, you can prepare an extra set of clothes and shoes, after all, you have to play with water. Gongshan·Nujiang

In this mysterious Gaoligong Mountain, although the national nature reserve is temporarily closed to tourists, this cannot stop our footsteps in search of beautiful scenery! 🚶♀️ With the recommendation of the local accommodation owner, we found experienced hiking guides who will lead us through the quiet mountains and forests to explore the endless charm of Gaoligong Mountain. 🧗♂️ The guide fee is about 300 yuan per person, including the explanation and leadership of the entire hiking process.
Before starting the hike, the guide will provide us with some suggestions and precautions to ensure the safety and smoothness of the journey. We chose a 5-kilometer hiking route, along the way we saw all kinds of strange flowers and weeds, clear waterfalls and rushing rivers. 🌸💧 The guide will also explain these unique natural landscapes to us, so that we can increase our knowledge while appreciating the beautiful scenery. 🌱
During the hike, we can not only appreciate the beautiful scenery of Gaoligong Mountain, but also have the opportunity to see the local unique rare animals and plants. The ecological environment here is well protected, allowing many rare species to thrive. 🦋🐿️
When we climbed to the top of the mountain, a spectacular scene unfolded before our eyes, as if we were in the clouds. In the small thatched cottage on the top of the mountain, we tasted the tea and fruits specially made by the local villagers, feeling the gift of nature. 🍵🍒 At the same time, we can also overlook the surrounding mountains and feel the heroic spirit of looking at all the mountains. The cost of tea and fruit is about 20 yuan per person.
After going down the mountain, we came to the wilderness kitchen, tasted delicious roasted ribs and pork belly, and let the taste buds also enjoy a food tour. 🍖 The dishes here are all made with local fresh ingredients, the taste is delicious and intoxicating. The consumption per person is about 100 yuan.
In the afternoon, we came to the wild hot spring, let the warm spring water soothe our tired feet, and enjoy a moment of tranquility. 🌊 In the hot spring, we can share the interesting things on the journey with our companions and enhance our feelings for each other. In addition, the hot spring also has certain health benefits, which are also beneficial to our body. The hot spring ticket price is about 50 yuan per person.
Finally, we went to the wild boar Qiaoqiao to take pictures and commemorate, recording this unforgettable journey. 📸 Standing on the bridge, we can appreciate the full view of Gaoligong Mountain and feel the grandeur of nature. On the bridge, we can also buy some local special souvenirs, such as handicrafts, local products, etc. The price varies from product to product, roughly between 10-100 yuan.
Although the whole journey is a bit tired, for us who love adventure, everything is worth it. 🚗
CONOR PARKS
Early in the morning, the mountain is introduced in the direction. It is like opening a fantasy journey of the original forest.
Sunlight penetrates through the treetops and scatters the mottled gold. The petals of the alpine rhododendrons fell into a natural red carpet, and the various unknown birds in the shade of the trees screamed.
This is a spring day in Gaoligong Mountain, but in my case it is like a fantasy.
