Dutch Windmill Village Nanny-level Guide
Yanjiao Village lies quietly in the province of Overijssel in the northeast of the Netherlands, within the De Wieden nature reserve. For over 700 years, there have been no high-rise buildings or bustling traffic, making it seem like a paradise on earth. The entire village is covered in greenery, with a dense network of rivers running through it and 176 wooden bridges connecting every household, earning it the nickname "Venice of the North". To visit, one must either take a boat or walk, as cars must be parked outside the village. The best time to visit Yanjiao Village is from April to October, and a day trip is sufficient as the village is not very large. The Netherlands is in full bloom from March to the end of May, with mid-April being the best time to visit.
At the train station's automatic ticket machine, buy a 1-day tourist pass for 44 euros (outside of peak hours before 6:30am and after 9:00am) which allows you to take all forms of transportation within the Netherlands (trains, buses, trams, and metros). If you're making a round trip in one day, buying this pass is even more cost-effective. Download the NS transportation app to check train schedules.
1. Depart from Amsterdam by train. Change at Zwolle for Steenwijk.
2. Take bus route 70 to Dominee TOHylkemaweg, Giethoorn and get off at Yangjiao Village.
3. As there is no road in the village, visitors can choose to walk, ride a bicycle, rent a boat, or take a sightseeing boat to tour around.
Transportation expenses
1. A round-trip train and bus ticket from Amsterdam to Giethoorn can be purchased for 39 euros.
2. Boats are divided by the number of people and level, with the cheapest being a 2-person manual rowboat for 15 euros. The basic price for a sightseeing boat is also 15 euros. Of course, there are more mechanical ones, which can be more expensive.
Transport schedule
1. Bus route 70 from Steenwijk to Yangjiao Village departs at 06:57 on weekdays, 08:27 on Saturdays, and 09:26 on Sundays.
2. Return schedule
Monday to Friday last train at 19:09, last train on weekends at 18:06.
Take a train and the scenery along the way is like an animated film flashing by, with each frame lingering and lively. Take a bus and savor the slow pace of life. And in the villages, the crisscrossing river network and 176 small wooden bridges connecting every household make boating an endless pleasure.
Take a boat ride (boat rental shops are located at the entrance of the village), or you can also bike or walk. It takes one or two hours to visit, but it is highly recommended to stay nearby for one or two days if you are not in a hurry. You can also take a walk around the surrounding area! Also, be sure to go on a sunny day! No need to add filters to your photos!

Must-visit attractions in the Netherlands! No doubt about it~~~
On sunny days, I once again miss those days of traveling the world on a whim! Taken in 2011, in the Dutch village of Giethoorn, where there were no iPhones, but the camera performance of Sony Ericsson phones was already considered good at the time. If I revisit the same place, I should be able to take even more beautiful pictures.

My dream destination...Giethoorn 😍
I saw many reviews of this village, and I wish I could be there once in a lifetime, and yes, I can go there after the long COVID-19 expansion. So I fell in love with this village. ❤️

A place I want to visit again - Dutch village of Giethoorn
A village that will never be forgotten, even if "living alone" will never be lonely. April is the time when flowers are blooming everywhere. Every year, tourists from all over the world gather here, so hotels must be booked in advance. We recommend the Yangjiao Village Hotel, but the check-in time is strictly controlled and you cannot check in early. The unlocking password will be sent to your phone on time.
Fellow travelers all said it's too beautiful, feeling unreal. Really don't want to leave, so we made a pact to come back again. Additionally, there's a relatively large supermarket nearby with prices relatively cheaper than other cities (based on comparison after visiting).

Giethoorn in the Netherlands is truly a real-life version of 'God's Back Garden' - it's so beautiful
Off-the-beaten-path travel~ Let me introduce you to this fairy-tale town: Giethoorn. Interestingly, the village got its name because workers in the 18th century found a large number of 'goat horns' here 🐑 There are no roads for cars in the village, only paths for bicycles and boats 🚣 It's like a 'Venice of the North' in Italy.
Giethoorn is divided into a northern and a southern part. The center of South Giethoorn is filled with various shops for tourists to visit and enjoy 🚶 While North Giethoorn is where the locals live, very secluded~ The narrow waterways here are surrounded by historic thatched cottages 🛖 Visitors can take a boat or ride a bicycle to tour the village! The best season to visit is from May to August, with green trees on both sides and flowers blooming in front of and behind the houses 🌹 The reed-thatched houses have a medieval retro charm, it's really like a fairy-tale world~
✨【Must-Visit Attractions】
📍Molen Canal
The scenery and atmosphere here can be said to be the essence of Giethoorn. Stroll along the forest paths 🚶 or boat on the sparkling lakes, it's incredibly pleasant!
📍Farm Museum
It's converted from an old farmhouse 🛖 Traditional costumes, furniture arrangements, and authentically restored living scenes... each spot shows the genuine Dutch flavor~
📍Shell Museum
It displays a wide variety of shells, corals 🪸, pearls, and conch specimens, as well as a rich collection of jewelry and accessories! What is this? This is art!
📍Old Earth Museum
Most of the exhibits come from Rene Boissevain's private collection. You can see all kinds of exotic minerals and gems, and you can also buy some exquisite handicrafts 🛍️ They make dazzling souvenirs~

Do you enjoy a boat riding day off with family or friends? Enjoying the gardens with different flowers while chilling on a boat ride. Ain’t it perfect for a day trip?!?! 🛶 The Giethoorn village was famous for its superb canals and a lake nearby, it’s 85 mins drive from Amsterdam. You could join a local day tour which bring you from Amsterdam to Giethoorn or stay in Giethoorn for several days. There were no roads within the village, you have to park in a special park outside the village.🚗#urbanexplorer
I have had a simple lunch and a very decent milky flavoured soft ice. 🍦I highly recommend the soft ice, it’s really creamy and milky!! 🥛🍦
After lunch me and my family has rent a boat for an hour to travel along the canals. 🌸The village was connected with a few canals, with booking a boat they’ll provide you with the route according to the duration. Another option will be joining a canal cruise. If you’d love to enjoy a “botanical garden” 🌸🌼🌺🌻view, I would recommend visiting there in the summer. If you’d love to see an autumn 🍂 garden view, then visit there in September or October.

New Year in Giethoorn
Giethoorn is a small village based in Overijsel province some 120 km north east of Amsterdam. The village, often referred to as the Venice of north, is a small settlement without roads where the houses are connected by canals formed by digging peat. There is a large lake nearby that is suitable for swimming in the summer or scating when the lake freezes some winters.
Specially in the summer it can be filled by tourists that outnumber the local population of some 2,800 people several times. I visted it on the 31st of December when it was not busy.
Although there is no enterance fee most peole rent a boat (electric) at the start of the village and this can be expensive depending on the type of boat and time the boat is needed for. If you have not used a boat before don't worry it is easy to use.
There are restaurants and cafes around and it is a lovely place to spend a day in summer or half a day in winter before going back to a warm fire and some champagne.

In the summer, driving in the Netherlands, all eyes are idyllic scenery, blue sky and white clouds, grass pastures, farmhouse windmills, happy cows. Summer is really a good season, I feel that people all over Holland have come out to play.
Mi_Travelogue.
A long time ago, it was a barren place. The first generation of occupants here are actually refugees from the Mediterranean. They settled here about 1200 years ago and then began to open this land. They found a large number of wild goat horns. Yangjiao Village is also gradually transformed into today's name "Geythoorn".
The Netherlands version of Venice - Giethoorn Tour TIPS:
1 three kinds of transportation: two legs, bicycles and boats. So naturally, I can only rely on my legs to feel the Giethoorn. There are no boats on the river, there are no tourists in the village, and occasionally meet several villagers, and they will greet you kindly.
2The boat in Yangjiao Village is a motor boat. The remote control is at the stern. All operations are reversed. It may need to be adapted at the beginning. It is the best way to enjoy Yangjiao Village on the river.
3 It is not recommended to go on a bicycle tour, because there are many tourists during the day in Yangjiao Village, and there are many bridges. In fact, it is very inconvenient to go up and down the bicycle.
4 If you have time, you should enjoy the sunset here. Basically, the town will be quiet until dinner time, and the tourists are gone.
Pumpkin_Plus_Watermelon.
In the early 13th century, the Dutch Giethoorn ushered in the first guests - fugitives from the Mediterranean region. When they arrived, they found the horns on the ground that flooded the floods many years ago. Therefore, they gave their new home a "shofar". "name. The Giethoorn village is divided into "islands" of different sizes and shapes by traditional canals. The traditional houses have thick and neat reed roofs. In this small village where the postman has to send a letter, the tourists can also drive the electric boat in the middle of the river with a silent motor. You can see the scenery on the boat, and the people in the scenery are watching you.

I like it here.

Before going to Giethoorn, I just listened to the host of the Dynamic 101 and learned about the origin of Giethoorn.
In the village of Amsterdam's Giethoorn, known as the Venice of the Netherlands, a red boat shuttles on both sides of the villa on the roof of the straw.
This is a good choice, take a breath of fresh air, hiking bikes are a good choice.
There are five big windmills in the village of Sans Ans. The favorite is the green one. You will find surprises in every windmill.
How can I get a little tulip in the Netherlands, first come to a prelude and Mifibi is beautiful.
