Hulunbuir Travel Guide | Hulunbuir Car Rental for Tourism
Hulunbuir Car Rental for Tourism. Local practical travel tips are here!!!
The grasslands are still a yellow expanse in May, and although it's not the peak season for tourism, it's definitely a unique landscape of the grasslands that can only be seen during this season.
Travel Section:
Since most attractions are far from the city, it is recommended to rent a car or self-drive.
Clothing Section:
Temperatures in Hulunbuir are still low in May, so be sure to bring warm clothes and also prepare for sun protection. You can wear jeans with a cowboy style or brightly colored skirts which really stand out in photos.
Day1: Depart from Hailar → Genhe
Morin Dawa River: Lao She described it as 'the world's number one meandering river'🌊. After reaching the viewing platform, do not turn back! Continue walking forward, there is a small bridge on the left, cross the bridge, turn left and keep walking until you see a crowded place, which is the 'cliff'. From here you can overlook the entire Morin Dawa River, absolutely beautiful🌅
Day2: Genhe → Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe → Moerdaoga National Forest Park
Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe: Have a close encounter with reindeer🦌, you can buy a basket of moss to interact and feed them~ The whole park is not very big, about 1 hour of play is enough. After seeing the reindeer, you can visit the museum, which is well worth a careful visit, as it tells the history and culture of the entire tribe and has many beautiful ethnic costumes.
Moerdaoga National Forest Park: If you want to see the transition from grassland to forest and experience a train ride through the forest sea, then include it in your itinerary. During the one and a half hour journey, you can breathe in the fresh air from nature.
Day3: Ergun Birch Forest → Shiwei
Birch Forest: Not only is there a vast sea of birch trees, but also an aerial walkway... The entire wooden walkway is quite long, winding through the shadows of the trees, with light and shadow on your face, as if you are in a magical fairyland like the Emerald City. There are many great photo spots here, the Rainbow Glass Bridge🌈, the Forest Realm... Anyway, you can't stop taking hundreds of different photos! Pay special attention to the 【Viewing Platform】, follow the walkway all the way to the end to see the sign for the viewing platform. Keep going, climb to the top of the mountain, and you can overlook the entire birch forest. Although the journey is tiring and long, once you reach the top, you feel refreshed, with the rolling hills and meadows⛰️ in the distance sweeping away the fatigue of the hike. You can also take photos with the huge reindeer statue, and if you have a drone, it's even cooler, as it's the kind of rhythm where you can take great photos with just a snap.
Shiwei: If you want to experience the charm of a border town, it is still recommended to come and see. Along the streets are candy-like distinctive buildings 'Muke Leng', as if you are in a dreamy castle🏰. Across the river, you can see Russian log cabins, and you can also take photos with the Matryoshka building complex.
Day4: Shiwei → Border Line → Return to Hailar
Border Line: Follow the border road straight ahead, and you can see the winding border river, which is very impressive. I went there in autumn, and the road was covered in gold, taking many beautiful photos, this road has the most special scenery.
Tips: How can you not eat beef and mutton when in Hulunbuir? Dried meat noodles, belly-wrapped meat, Buryat buns, milk tea, small fruits... are all worth trying~

Morin Dawa River
Morin Dawa River, also known as Morin Gawa River, Morin Gen River, and Morin Geng River, is a transliteration from Mongolian, meaning 'winding river' or 'meeting head river,' and is acclaimed as 'the most winding river under heaven'.
Located within the territory of Chen Barag Banner, Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, it originates from the western side of Hada Ridge in the middle section of the Greater Khingan Range. The river is 319 kilometers long, with a drainage area of 4,987 square kilometers. The river meanders from northeast to southwest through the Hulunbuir grasslands, joining Hulun Lake west of Bayankuren Town by more than 10 kilometers. It then flows out from the southern part of the lake and joins the Hailar River near the Wugunor Railway Station on the Binzhou line, being part of the Erguna River system that forms the border between China and Russia.
The terrain within the river basin is flat and open, with a gentle river gradient and meandering channels. The banks are rich in water and grass, making it an excellent natural pasture.

Inner Mongolia | Nature's meandering river, the world's foremost meandering water
❤️Recommended reason:
The Morin Dawa River is famous for its numerous bends, winding from the northeast to the southwest through the Hulunbuir grasslands. Its course is circuitous and meandering, which can be described as having numerous twists and turns, earning it the title of "the world's foremost meandering water".
📝Note tips:
The Morin Dawa River scenic area has been completed, and there is a shuttle service at the entrance of the tourist service center. Currently, there is no formal ticketing operation. It is very likely that this area will become a charged scenic spot in the near future, and private vehicles will not be allowed to enter. Visitors will need to take the scenic area's shuttle bus to tour around.
The natural meandering river is breathtaking.

It is recommended to go horse riding at the Heishantou professional horse farm, especially beautiful at sunset. Most charter companies arrange stays in Mongolian yurts. The longest zip line in Hulunbuir is the Grass Slide 186, costing between 100 to 300 yuan each time.
**Delicacies‼️‼️**
When in Hulunbuir, you must try authentic Mongolian cuisine! My list before going included: yogurt, date cake, pot milk tea, beef bone, yogurt bun, lamb offal soup, beef hot pot. Mongolian food in many places can be too gamey! I recommend a Han-ified Mongolian restaurant that is delicious and authentic. You must go and try it.
👗**For attire,**
I personally prefer the blue and yellow color scheme, with ginger yellow and blue and white also being good choices.

The Moer Gorge River in Hulunbuir Grassland of Inner Mongolia is a must-visit spot for tourists
✔️ The Moer Gorge River, a tributary of the Hailar River which is the upper source of the Heilongjiang River, is also known as the Mor Gorge River, Mor Gen River, or Moer Gen River. It is a transliteration from Mongolian, meaning 'a winding river'.
✔️ Located within the jurisdiction of Chen Barag Banner in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, it flows from northeast to southwest across the entire territory of Chen Barag Banner, with a length of 319 kilometers,
✔️ The terrain within the river basin is relatively flat and open, with a gentle river gradient and meandering course. It is known as 'the most winding river in the world', and the banks are rich with lush grass and water, making it an excellent natural pasture. The downstream flows into Lake Hulun and then out from the southeast end of the lake, joining the Hailar River. Along the banks, there are developments such as the Golden Khan Mongolian tribe, Hulunbuir Grassland·Moer Gorge River, and Chen Barag Banner Hulun Lake grassland river scenic areas.
✔️ It can be said that this section is the most beautiful grassland route in Hulunbuir. Therefore, when you come to Hulunbuir, don't miss the Moer Gorge River.

Goodbye summer~ The autumn scenery of the Moergeti River is even more charming!
In September, when most parts of our motherland are still immersed in the heat of the autumn tiger, here, autumn has quietly begun. Want to find the first touch of autumn in our motherland? Come to the Hulunbuir Prairie, here, it will definitely bring you endless surprises!
.
🏞️Coming to Hulunbuir, a must-visit stop is the world's first curved water - Moergeti River.
The Moergeti River is a winding river flowing through the Hulunbuir Prairie, with a total length of 319 kilometers and a basin area of 4987 square kilometers. In Mongolian, it means "winding river", and it is also known as "the world's first curved water". The river is winding and twisting, like a dragon lying on the prairie, with nine bends and eighteen turns, it is the most shocking scenery on the Hulunbuir Prairie.
.
📍If you want to enjoy the beauty of the Moergeti River, there are several good check-in points:
▪️The mountains on the prairie rise and fall, and the highest hill is the best position to overlook the curved water. There are also mobile stalls selling hot milk tea and boiled corn on the mountain. Holding a cup of fresh hot milk tea and looking at the vast mountains and rivers of our motherland is a very good idea.
▪️Drive the car to the river, you can feel the beauty of the prairie and curved water at close range. The river is very clear, and the grass along the way is abundant, which will attract many horses to rest here.
.
⛰️What to play around the Moergeti River:
Not far from the Moergeti River, there is a stone slope. There are many small stone piles piled up by local people for blessings. This place was also a filming location for the movie "The Ghouls", which can be arranged to visit with the Moergeti River.
.
✔️Tour tips:
▪️The Moergeti River is free to enjoy, no tickets required
▪️You must drive by yourself when playing in Hulunbuir. Driving an off-road vehicle through the prairie is the most correct way to open Hulunbuir. Hailar has an airport, usually fly to Hailar to start the journey, the Moergeti River is usually the first stop of the journey, because the entire prairie crossing journey will pass through the border line or uninhabited area, often without signal, it is recommended to choose a local professional driver to lead the way, we chose our old friend North Brother this time, leading us through the prairie to find autumn, enjoying the beautiful scenery, and having a great time! More beautiful scenery to come, look forward to it~

Traveling from Hunan to Jilin to visit relatives, then driving to the Hulun Buir grasslands
Measuring the world with footsteps, travel is the reading of the soul. Always adhering to the parenting concept of 'It's better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books', I want to let the child grow up freely, so that your child can see the world and learn knowledge while playing, combining work and rest, and let the child be a happy, confident, healthy child who likes to walk into and explore nature, and see a lot. We have indeed always done this. Like my elder sister, she has gained a lot, especially in geography class. Every time she comes home to share, she says: Thanks to my parents for taking her to travel the world since she was a child, every time the teacher shares the geography, specialty products, and folk customs of a certain place, she finds that she has been to that place and knows something about it.
One day I saw a friend post about the winter of the Morgele River, which was integrated with the grassland, with only slightly visible winding river channels. During the summer vacation trip to Hulun Buir, I passed through the uninhabited area of the Morgele River. There was a very close road to the destination Star Ranch, but due to the bridge being washed away by the flood, I had to take a detour.
The Morgele River is extremely winding due to its winding river course, just like a giant dragon lying on the grassland, winding and twisting, the waterway is rolling and folding, and the flow direction changes. Such a winding river is very rare in the country. Lao She once called it 'the first curved water in the country'. The Morgele River is very narrow but extremely winding. From the air, the river is winding, like a blue ribbon, sometimes going east, sometimes going west, sometimes going south, sometimes going north, its degree of bending can be described as nine bends and eighteen bends.
That time I drove from Hunan all the way north to the Hulun Buir grasslands. Here, besides the grasslands, there are rivers and lakes. Passing the Erguna River, the grassland is an uninhabited area with no signal. Finally found a Star Ranch to stay in a Mongolian yurt, where you can see the stars. One day's journey, I went to the Birch Forest Scenic Area, which is said to be as large as 7000 football fields, showing how many birch trees there are, reminding me of that familiar song. That night I stayed in Enhe, a characteristic Russian ethnic township. It should be winter there after the eleventh, thinking of the last return journey took 5 days, the total journey lasted a month.
Memories are always beautiful.
Route: Drove from Jilin, passed through Qiqihar, and went to see the red-crowned crane.
Accommodation: When in Rome, do as the Romans do, cleanliness and hygiene are good;

Life advice: Be sure to visit Inner Mongolia to see the autumn fairy tale in September and October
Only after visiting Hulun Buir in September will you understand that autumn can be so stunning❗ It's not the 'lonely autumn since ancient times' often mentioned in textbooks.
Here, piles of lush grass rolls are rolled up on the grassland, the birch forest is dyed layer by layer to show the golden color, which is different from the endless green in summer, all the vegetation reveals its personality at this time.
Each scene is like a glowing oil painting🖼, wandering among them is like traveling in a painting.
The team leader told me that, coincidentally, the mutton is the most fat and delicious at this time.
I have summarized the super detailed guide to Hulun Buir in September, and I will answer any questions.
【📸Best travel time】
Mid-September to mid-October, the autumn color of Hulun Buir is very short, and the beautiful scenery is fleeting❗
【How to get there】
Hailar and Manzhouli both have airports, and there are direct flights from major cities, but Hailar is usually cheaper than Manzhouli.
Hulun Buir is suitable for chartered tours or self-driving (not recommended for those with little self-driving experience, crossing the grassland is a bit dangerous, no roads, no signal).
【6 days and 5 nights itinerary】
D1: Hailar-Crossing the grassland-Morin River-Golden Khan-Erguna Wetland Park-Erguna
D2: Erguna-Birch Forest-Enhe-Olugu Ya Reindeer-Moridoga
D3: Moridoga-Eagle Beak-God Fairy Slope-Shiwei
D4: Shiwei-Sino-Russian Friendship Bridge-Ka Line (the most beautiful border road)-Heishantou
D5: Heishantou-186 Color River-Manzhouli
D6: Manzhouli-Wedding Palace-Mammoth Park-Hulun Lake-Balhu Mongolian Tribe-Hailar
【Travel advice】
🔖The weather on the Inner Mongolia grassland is unpredictable, and the temperature difference between day and night is large, so bring warm and windproof clothing.
🔖If conditions permit, prepare telephoto lenses and walkie-talkies, the photo distance on the grassland is far.
🔖If you need to cross the grassland, many attractions in the grassland do not have map navigation, the range of the grassland is too large, many places do not have mobile phone signals, if there is no experienced team leader to lead the way, do not risk self-driving!
【Food tips】
Hand meat, roasted lamb chops, roasted lamb legs, Nantun steak, lamb tail core, belly wrapped meat, roasted lamb skewers and beef skewers can be arranged in turn.
Russian meal: similar to Western food, slightly expensive, can be experienced once.
Iron pot stew, copper pot hotpot lamb, Mongolian meals at various locations can also be arranged in turn.
Dairy shops at various locations, fresh milk, yogurt, yogurt ice cream🍦, leba (Russian pronunciation, meaning bread) must also be tried

Moergetu River||The most beautiful scenery is always on the road
||The most beautiful scenery is always on the road. On the Chenbarhu Prairie in Hulunbuir, there is a river known as the 'First Bend in the World', the Moergetu River. On this vast prairie, there are dense pastures, winding rivers, herds of cattle and sheep, dotted Mongolian yurts and round bales of hay, forming the most beautiful prairie scenery in Hulunbuir.
Driving along the G332 national road north of Hailar, you will enter a prairie road close to the Moergetu River. To the north are several nomadic tribes and a large number of Mongolian yurts, the largest of which is the Golden Khan Cultural Tribe. You need to buy a ticket to enter, and there are various entertainment projects such as accommodation, dining, archery and horse riding.
To the south is an endless prairie pasture and boundless fences, boldly go directly in. There are large flocks of sheep and horses quietly grazing here. They don't avoid getting close to them, but they can't get too close. There are herdsmen watching foreign tourists from afar in pickup trucks and motorcycles, fearing that I can run with a sheep.
Not far behind the Golden Khan, is the most beautiful location of the Moergetu River. Here the river begins to widen, and the winding river, like a giant dragon coiling on the prairie. Along the river, there are 5 separate small Mongolian yurts, which are the most prairie-style accommodation points in the entire scenic area, and the experience is much better than the previous tribal area. Unfortunately, there is no one operating in late autumn, and the specific check-in details are unknown.
As you go deeper into the prairie, the cattle, sheep and horses gradually disappear, and there are no Mongolian yurts, only endless prairies, and even the beautiful scenery begins to appear monotonous. The only fun behind is that there are many different sizes of hay bales on the prairie. Some are particularly large. As a boy, you must climb up and jump down, and you will have a lot of fun!
After playing all the way, I found that the most beautiful scenery of the Moergetu River is not a certain position or element, but the sheep, horses, eagles, birds, flowers, grass, Mongolian yurts... and other bits and pieces encountered on the road, and those favorite hay bales.
Food and Footprints
Before I went to Inner Mongolia, I thought Xinjiang was already very beautiful
Last week, I accidentally swiped a video
Piles of grass all over the mountains are placed on the golden grassland, and herds of cows are leisurely grazing. This healing photo immediately attracted me
·That night, I booked a plane ticket, eager to collide with the grassland! After the trip, I immediately organized a super detailed strategy. Feel free to ask questions at any time~
·【About Transportation】
Landing at Hailar Airport, the chartered driver contacted online in advance for pick-up and drop-off throughout the journey, super worry-free️Experienced car partners can also choose to rent a car locally
·️【5-day 4-night itinerary】
D1: Hailar-Morin River-Erguna Wetland-Birch Forest-Heishantou Horse Riding to Watch the Sunset
D2: Heishantou-Visit Herdsmen-The Most Beautiful Border Road-Wawa Square-National
D3: Manzhouli-Hulun Lake-New Barhu Grassland-Wuli Spring-Arshan
D4: Arshan Park-Camel Hump Ridge-Azalea Lake-Santan Gorge
D5: Arshan Park-Rose Peak-Bayan Hushuo Grassland-Return to Hailar
·【Five Things Worth Experiencing in Inner Mongolia】
Visit herdsmen to experience the joy of archery and feeding sheep
Ride a horse to Heishantou to watch the sunset
Eat an authentic Russian meal in Manzhouli
Go to the deer park to feed reindeer
Try authentic Inner Mongolian roast whole lamb
·️【Food Strategy】
To put it bluntly, I gained several pounds in Inner Mongolia for five days... It's all because of Inner Mongolia's roast lamb chops, beef pies, and milk tea are too fragrant. 🤣In addition, various Russian ice creams, chocolates and sausages are also worth a try
·️【Travel tips】
The temperature difference between morning and evening is very large. Remember to bring down jackets and other thick clothes in October.
Inner Mongolia is much larger than you think. You must make a good strategy before traveling. Friends who want convenience can directly find a travel agency to plan the route, book hotel rooms and charter drivers
Don't just enter the grass piles and private grasslands that can be seen everywhere on the roadside! If you want to go in and take pictures, you must get the permission of the grassland owner

Exploring Inner Mongolia Hulunbuir: A perfect encounter with nature and culture
Dear ones, I want to share with you my recent travel experience, which was a journey full of surprises and emotions. I went to Inner Mongolia Hulunbuir, where there are endless grasslands, deep rivers and exotic border cities in my imagination.
D1: We started from Hailar and headed to the Morin River. It is a winding river, like a beautiful painting on the earth. The grassland scenery along the way made me feel like I was in a poem. At night, we chose to stay in the cold pole, where there is a quiet night and a brilliant starry sky.
D2: We went to the Aoluguya Deer Tribe to visit the local minority culture. Their unique lifestyle and customs fascinated me. Then, we went to Moerdaoga and spent a quiet night in Shiwei Town.
D3: In the morning, we went to Linjiang to enjoy the scenery of the Russian ethnic village and the smiling river. The unique buildings and rich cultural atmosphere made me feel like I was in a foreign country. At night, we stayed in Heishantou, looking forward to the next day's journey.
D4: This day we visited Heishantou and Manzhouli. The exotic charm of Manzhouli fascinated me. In Manzhouli, I tasted local delicacies, bought some special souvenirs, and experienced the unique charm of the border city. At night, we returned to Manzhouli with full load.
D5: On the last day, we visited Hulun Lake and the horse tethering stake. The lake was clear and the legend of the horse tethering stake moved me deeply. After these attractions, we ended this trip to Hulunbuir and happily returned to Hailar.
During this trip, I experienced the grandeur of nature, the style of minorities, and the exotic culture of border cities. Although the travel cost is relatively high, I think it is worth it. This trip has given me unforgettable memories and unique experiences.

Hulunbuir | Morin Dawa River, the 'world's most winding river'
Deep in the Chenbarhu Prairie of Hulunbuir, there is a river called the Morin Dawa River, which was referred to as the 'world's most winding river' by Lao She, and the Golden Khan Mongolian tribe is also located here. Locals say it 'bends ninety-nine times in large curves, and nine hundred and ninety-nine times in small curves, the river flows in all directions.' In the season when the water and grass are abundant, many nomadic herders gather here, forming a natural nomadic tribe. The unique golden haystacks in autumn, the winding river, the herds of cattle and sheep, and the scattered yurts form a perfect picture of the prairie scenery.
🚗Transportation: About 50 minutes drive from Hailar City.
📍It is recommended to join a small car group or charter a car, as there are almost no road signs here, self-driving can get lost, and buses cannot enter.
➡️Tour route:
1️⃣Haolin Wundu Day Station: The first high point, with a wide view and a large height difference, you can see the winding and very narrow river. It takes about 10 minutes to climb up the plank road.
2️⃣ Ajier Station: The second high point, where the Morin Dawa River is smooth and flowing, you can encounter herds of cattle and sheep, and scattered yurts.
3️⃣Morgen Station: The third high point, there are a lot of haystacks here, closest to the world's prairie and visitor center.
⏱Opening hours: Open all day
🎫Ticket: Free

The second viewpoint on the south side of the Mozhgrad River (it is said that there is a better view of the Mozhgrad River in the north, but the journey will increase by half, and the road is not easy to walk, it is not convenient to eat), the roadside is close to the river. Many locals and even tourists are fishing here, and the people here love fishing is notorious, all the way to see!
Let me tell you a beautiful story about this river: It is said that a long time ago, the Mozhgrad River Basin was once a water-deficient grassland, and the grass was not prosperous, and the herders life was very difficult.
One year, but also encountered drought, resulting in the death of a large number of livestock.
The herdsmen prayed for help...
shaman could not alleviate the disaster...
Many herders had to go far and escape...
A Mongolian girl named Mozhegler, witnessing this situation is anxious...
She decided to go to the Daxinganling Mountain Forest to find the legendary spring, divert water back to the countryside, and save the suffering of her hometown. . She rode her beloved horse on the journey...
After countless nights and treks, Mozgrad finally embarked on the high Xing'an Mountains, but she has gone through all the hardships. Chongshan Mountain has not been able to find Shenquan.
She is desperate, physically and mentally, and she is exhausted on the hillside, lying in the lush virgin forest, looking at the sky, tears in her eyes, and what is being prayed in her mouth, she is again Did not stand up.
In the spring of the second year, when the snow melted, a clear mountain spring emerged from the place where the Mozhgrad girl fell. The spring flowed down the hillside and flowed in the direction of her hometown. Constantly collecting snow and rain, gradually formed a river.
People in their hometowns waited and waited. They didnt wait for Mozgrad, but they ushered in the springs that flowed from the meandering.
Since then, people have never seen the girl of Morgra, but people are convinced that her sincerity has moved the sky and the earth. It is the river that the heavens and the earth have given to the grassland. Le girl immortal soul.
The reason why the river is so curved is because the soul of the Mozhgrad girl is full of attachment to his hometown. It is necessary to look at the increasingly beautiful grasslands in his hometown and look at the folks in his hometown. So the people named the river Mozhgrad River to commemorate the girl!
After the story is over, we climbed up the slope of the grassland and stood on a high place. The scenery in our eyes was so beautiful! ! Looking at the Mozhgrad River from a height, the curved shape is more intuitive, the clouds in the sky are at your fingertips, and the occasional whistling car becomes part of the landscape! Any angle or posture can shoot the screensaver you want, the girls are full of joy, and the naughty Ronger has come up with the shape of "Sandsor Sisters", and laughs when they shoot! The small flowers of different colors are also embellished, which also enriches the color of this landscape! A white skirt girl continued to walk up the hillside, the picture is like a scene in a movie, even into the mirror!
After we had a good time, we walked down the hillside and came to the river. We saw that the anglers had a good harvest. The fish in the warehouse (we called this small fish in Nanjing, the locals could not call anything), and there was also the idea of leaving fishing. ! Cloud reflections in the river, more of the meaning of the sky! We dare not stay more, because the scenery behind is more exciting!

The off-road vehicle galloped in the endless wilderness, the mighty wind swept across the grassland, and swayed from my side, and the grass waves swayed from the bottom of the foot to the horizon. The flock ate the grass leisurely, and the horses sang in the hillocks, looking up, and the green and undulating greens outlined the lines of ink on the horizon.
I still remember the phrase in the "Muller Song" that I learned in my childhood. "The sky is green, the wild, the wind blows the grass and sees the cattle and sheep." When I close my eyes, I always see such a scene in my mind.
