Most famous tree in New Zealand!
One of the most Insta-famous and most photographed tree in New Zealand is That Wanaka Tree, a lonely willow tree in Lake Wanaka! Many tourists and photographers gather here at sunrise and sunset to capture this beautiful lone tree sitting in a lake with stunning mountain backdrop. It is really a unique sight to behold!
This tree is located right in the town of Wanaka, in the South Island of New Zealand. It’s a small little town about an hour’s drive away from Queenstown. While you’re there, you can take your time to enjoy this unique little tree, but if you prefer to stay away from the crowds, you can take a stroll further down along the lake. I noticed there weren’t much people who did that so it was quieter and more peaceful, and you can enjoy the scenery of the snow mountains in the distant.

The Iconic Tree of Lake Wanaka
Said to be the most photographed tree in New Zealand, I am not surprised about this statement because once you are there, you will see a huge crowd of people with their cameras trying to take photo of this tree!
Even so, I would still recommend everyone to visit the place because the scenery here is really really beautiful! It might be touristy, but don’t ever let them stop you from coming because you’re gonna lose out on an opportunity to see something amazing!
This is also one of the few spots of New Zealand where you do not have to hike a lot to reach the main view point of the location. The tree is merely a few minutes walk away from the carpark, making it easily accessible to everyone of all ages!
Apart from the tree, the scenery around here are all really good spots to take some wonderful photos to bring home as memories too.
Leave at least 30-mins to an hour when you are coming here, to fully immerse yourself in this wonderful spot! #hiking #nationalpark #travelinspiration #scenicspotguide #springholiday #naturalwonders
It's too chill, it's the lifestyle I've been dreaming of
Most of the time when I travel, I take pictures of the scenery, but this time when I was traveling in New Zealand, I saw a lot of people in a very relaxed state, and I couldn't help but want to capture it.
Our trip in New Zealand is still quite special forces, we can't lie down on the mountain top like them to read books, they have lived my ideal vacation state, I'm tired of saying the word envy.
I love the small town under the Alps more than Queenstown
When it comes to New Zealand, everyone thinks of Queenstown🛖 first
But when you start a self-driving tour of the South Island, you will find
The scenery of the small towns along the way is invaluable
Wanaka is a must-visit small town🏡 for self-driving in New Zealand
It's very small with only 5000+ people, but it's my favorite place!
Actually, Lake Wanaka is very close to Queenstown
It's a 1.5h drive back and forth, and the town and lake of Wanaka under the surrounding peaks
Has the adventurous atmosphere of Queenstown
And a bit of extra leisurely atmosphere
There is a TV show called 'The Free Range Cook'
It's about the legendary New Zealand chef queen Langbein
She turned her life into a poem on the shore of Lake Wanaka
Living an enviable lakeside pastoral life
Because it's not big, I've organized the following ways to play around Lake Wanaka
1、 The Lonely Tree
A lonely tree growing in Lake Wanaka
The background is Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps
Lake Wanaka is really very quiet, the 4th largest lake in New Zealand
The majestic mountains surround Lake Wanaka so purely quiet
2、 The history under the town
Wanaka town only has 1 main road along the lake called Ardmore street
The important historical events of New Zealand are recorded on the trail along the lake
One brick represents one year, try to find the year you were born
3、 Puzzling World
Indoor and outdoor, very suitable for parent-child travel!
A small amusement park that displays mathematics and space technology
There are many special visual effects caused by misplaced space
4、 Bra Fence
Must pass this place on the way from Wanaka to Queenstown
The fence is covered with tens of thousands of women's bras
Originally it was just a whim of 4 women in 1999
Hang their own bras on the wire fence by the road
Later, many people saw it and went to hang it
So there are more and more bras, forming the current bra wall
5、 Arrowtown
There is also a former gold mining town nearby
The main street is Buckingham St
Here is the smallest museum in New Zealand
And it is said to be the oldest post office in New Zealand
Opened in 1863 and still in business
This is also one of the filming locations of 'The Lord of the Rings'
From here, it's only 21 kilometers to Queenstown
If you come to New Zealand, please spend an extra day in Wanaka
Although it's not big, it's very satisfying just to walk by the lake and feed the ducks
Travel tips:
Wanaka town only has 1 main road along the lake called Ardmore street
Restaurants, grocery stores, outdoor/wool shops are all here
The hotel room we stayed in can see Lake Wanaka
The unchanged Chinese taste can also find a Chinese supermarket here
In addition to the necessary Lao Gan Ma abroad, even snail powder is available
We all buy our own ingredients and seasonings and go back to the hotel to make hot pot
And the Manuka honey that must be bought when coming to New Zealand is even cheaper here
That Wanaka Tree!
It has always been in my to-do list for New Zealand. Granted it may not rank as high as Mount Cook or Ben Lomond or even the Bungee Jump, but it's on the list.
It's a fun place to people watch too. As you know, other than the cities, New Zealand has more sheep/cows than people. This is one place where you'll see people milling around.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind?
comment below 🙃
Lonely tree, New Zealand's famous "net red" tree That Wanaka Tree, because people grow up in the water, and then fire on the Internet. A tree has stood alone in the lake for a long time. I don't know if it is nature's ingenuity or artificial carving. Facing the pats of so many people every day, it is estimated that the heart of this tree is: Let me be quiet. . (~~;)
The afterglow of the sunset sprinkled on the lake, Wanaka gradually immersed in the silence, only the ducks happily swim in the lake. In Wanaka's time, I just want to sit quietly at the lake, don't want anything, do nothing, quietly.
