BREATHTAKING TEMPLE IN FUZHOU ⛩️
As one of the national key temples as well as the first of the five Buddhist temples in Fuzhou City, Xichan Temple has been stood for over 1130 years and underwent natural disasters and warring damages in its long-term development since built in 867 of Tang Dynasty (618-907).
This is a very nice place to visit in the city, it has many temples inside with a big lake in the middle and many trees and benches to sit and relax. The entrance ticket is very cheap, only 20 CNY. It was the only place we have to pay for. All the attraction in the city are for free.

A Three-Day, Two-Night Special Forces Experience in Fuzhou on a Rainy Day
This trip was mainly for the jj20 concert, so this guide only represents my personal experience. Friends who have something to add are welcome to do so in the comments section.
Since the time of my flight's arrival didn't match the airport shuttle bus schedule, I chose to take the subway. Additionally, the subway was free on the weekend, which was very cost-effective. You can take a taxi to Wanshou Subway Station🚉 for about 20💰. Other than the longer time, I felt it was pretty good.
Kaiyuan Temple—Sanfang Qixiang—Wanda Plaza—Xichan Temple—Yantai Mountain
I especially recommend Kaiyuan Temple in Fuzhou. Admission is free, and you can get incense for free upon entering the temple. The temple isn't very large but it's very popular, and inside there's a thousand-year-old iron Buddha that's definitely worth seeing. There will be more locals around.
There's a Yellow Alley in Sanfang Qixiang, and if you walk inside, there's a market with many original fridge magnets for sale, priced from 💰15-45. I think it's nice to buy one as a souvenir. Sanfang Qixiang is close to Wanda Plaza, which is right across from Xichan Temple. Xichan Temple does require an admission fee of 20💰. After visiting, a local Didi driver told us that you can enter through the back door for free, but I don't know if that's true.
I suggest you set aside half a day or a full day to visit Yantai Mountain. Walking around and taking photos takes a long time. Because it kept raining, we ended up walking briskly for about 4 hours and couldn't go on, so we returned to the hotel. However, Yantai Mountain in the misty rain has a unique charm. On a clear day, the experience would be even better👍. Don't miss the spot in photo 6 along the river at Yantai Mountain, near Zhongzhou Island and Jiefang Bridge, where you can take photos similar to Jay Chou's MV stand-ins.
Lastly, let's talk about the food. I personally prefer fish balls and flat meat. I casually ate at a Xiangji Quanzhen Fish Ball shop, which was cheap and delicious. I saw many local elders coming to buy fish balls.
Lao Hua is also a casual, no-queue restaurant with a very fresh taste, quite light, suitable for friends who like a lighter taste.
Milk Tea: Tangmo (not very amazing, light and not greasy) Hujiu Jasmine (a strong jasmine aroma, heavy milk flavor can be a bit greasy)
Because it rained all three days, I didn't get a better chance to explore and eat in Fuzhou. Personally, I still really like the Fujian area. Friends who plan to go should spend an extra day or two to explore more deeply. The subway is free after 17:00 on workdays and on weekends, which is really a great experience!

Appreciate Xichan Temple from a different perspective
There is a very famous temple in Fuzhou called Xichan Temple. I have visited it more than once, and this time I appreciated the appearance of this ancient temple from a very different perspective. Unlike other temples located deep in the mountains, Xichan Temple is situated in the bustling downtown area of Fuzhou. This set of photos was actually taken more than half a month ago, at that time, the Bauhinia variegata on both sides of the Industrial Road was blooming beautifully, whether standing on the road or looking down from the air, the scene was quite spectacular. After taking the photos, I also checked in at a coffee shop that a certain singer had visited, but I found it quite ordinary.🏙️⛩️🏡

In the spring, Xichan Temple is a vision of springtime (with a guide)
The Xichan ancient temple, built during the Tang Dynasty, is located in the western part of the Gulou District in Fuzhou, right next to the Fuzhou University Zhicheng College. The entrance road is lined with blooming Bauhinia trees, their vibrant purple, pink, and white flowers set against the red walls, creating a leisurely atmosphere of a spring outing with a hint of summer heat.
The entrance pavilion and pond are reminiscent of Jiangsu and Zhejiang gardens, and from there, one can already see the Bao'en Pagoda landscape. However, if you're here to worship, don't hurry across the arched bridge; follow the shaded path on the left to reach the main axis of the temple.
Xichan Temple is a well-preserved ancient temple with little elevation difference, making it an easy walk even for the elderly. Although the original buildings from 867 are hard to discern through the ashes of history, the current structures are based on Qing Dynasty reconstructions. Yet, through the deep dougong brackets and the layered grandeur of the Arhat Hall, one can still glimpse the Tang Dynasty charm.
The Jade Buddha Tower, as the name suggests, houses two jade Buddhas with serene demeanors and lifelike appearances; the statues in the Huayan Three Saints Hall are majestic, and looking up at them can be quite awe-inspiring. For rest, one can sit in front of the Guanyin Pavilion to watch the pigeons fly, then slowly step into the hall.
Leaving the shade of the lychee trees and Bauhinia, one can still feel the lingering charm, and from across the street, the view of the Bao'en Pagoda and Arhat Hall, along with the floral scenery of the path, can be fully appreciated.

🎈DAY2 Pioneer Market-Yantai Mountain Park-Shangxia Hang-Xi Chan Ancient Temple-Fu Dao
✅Pioneer Market: The fireworks are very full, but it is really a vegetable market. If you have plenty of time, you can come, but there is really no need to make a special trip🌚
✅Yantai Mountain Park: The park is not very big, but there are many shops in the commercial area below and it is quite good to stroll around👍
✅Jiefang Bridge: It is Fuzhou's popular bridge, and there are European-style buildings behind it. It must be particularly out of the picture when taking pictures at night📷, unfortunately we went in the afternoon.
✅Shangxia Hang: It feels like Jiangnan, it is very suitable for walking when the weather is good. But part of it is still under construction, and if you take the wrong road, you will feel like a construction site 555😭
✅Xi Chan Ancient Temple: Enter the park before 16:30, don't be late! We just came a few minutes late and could only take pictures outside the door
✅Fu Dao: The way of fortune❤️, a forest trail with a very beautiful meaning. We went at night, you can see the night view of Fuzhou when you go up, it's beautiful. This whole journey is 19 kilometers, there are 10 exits, and there is no need to follow a certain route, walking around is a surprise, and the exit is also quite convenient by car
🚄Transportation: Just choose Fuzhou Station for the high-speed rail station, which is close to the city and tourist attractions
📍Accommodation: Choose to stay near Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, which is closer to the attractions and more convenient for transportation
❤️Who would have thought that I chose this city because of the word "Fu" in the name of Fuzhou. Although it is not very amazing, the whole city gives people a very comfortable feeling, very suitable for slow travel and rest, I hope the state of fortune can bring this good fortune to everyone who has been fortunate to come here!

The treasure ancient temple in Fuzhou that you absolutely cannot miss is very beautiful
Xichan Temple, full name Yishan Changqing Temple, is one of the five major Zen forests in Fuzhou, located at the foot of Yishan in the western suburbs, and is also a national key famous temple. Located in the old city of Fuzhou, there is a kind of tranquility that is isolated from the world. The weather that has just rained gives this high and low scattered architectural group a layer of simple and elegant atmosphere. The atmospheric official-style architecture, integrated with the rich Minnan style, there are many pigeons falling under the eaves, echoing the decoration of pigeons on the building, I don't know what special meaning, there is also a litchi tree from the Song Dynasty in the courtyard, still lush, "The litchi tree has been passed down from the Song Dynasty for four dynasties, and the bell sound has been ringing for a thousand years." It conveys this Zen machine and artistic conception.
The temple has pavilions, long corridors, and arch bridges to form the scenery of Jiangnan gardens; the Baotower, the Scripture Pavilion, and the Arhat Hall behind form the scenery of ancient architecture.
Walking in it, you can feel the tranquility and peace from the ancient temple of a thousand years, the red walls and golden tiles, and the flying eaves give people a sense of solemnity and solemnity.
📸The temple is very suitable for clocking in, and the ancient architecture and pavilions are very out of the picture.
1️⃣There is a long corridor of pavilions and waterside pavilions when you enter the temple, which is very suitable for taking pictures and clocking in.

Witness the nature under the thousand-year-old lychee tree---The Zen of Fuzhou Xichan Ancient Temple
Xichan Temple, founded in the Tang Dynasty, was named Changqing Temple during the Five Dynasties and has been used ever since. Because there were Zen temples in all directions in Fuzhou in the old days, Changqing Temple was located in the western suburbs, so it was commonly known as "Xichan Temple". And Zen, Buddha said "the original face, the nirvana wonderful heart", is the method of becoming enlightened by seeing the nature in tranquility.
Xichan Temple has been burned and rebuilt over the centuries, and the existing layout is slightly different from that of general temples. Entering the mountain gate, there is a nine-curved bridge with the layout of Jiangnan garden and a solemn and compassionate giant Guanyin statue. The silhouette of the Baoen Pagoda is faintly visible in the release pond, and under the cover of the pine forest and lychee trees is the solemnity of the Buddha Hall and dining hall. Walking along the nine-curved bridge, crossing the arch bridge, is like crossing the Naihe Bridge and saying goodbye to the past. Standing under the Baoen Pagoda, the temples behind the pagoda are ethereal and pure, the Heavenly King Hall, the Daxiong Treasure Hall, the Sutra Hall, the Jade Buddha Tower, the Guanyin Pavilion, all exude a kind of tranquility, as if there is a pure land in the far place where you are going. Close your eyes in front of the Buddha, and your mood will be renewed. Perhaps this is the meaning of Zen, everyone will have their own Zen.
The place where Xichan Temple is located is anciently known as Yishan. The lychee of Yishan started in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty. Therefore, lychee trees were planted all over the temple when Xichan Temple was built. Lychee in Buddhism implies "perfect wisdom and unobstructed Buddha path". When the cicadas are singing and the lychees are ripe, eating three hundred lychees a day in the Zen temple, in addition to the sweetness that flows into the mouth, there is also the Buddha's intention that seeps into the heart.
The thousand-year-old lychee tree has witnessed the ups and downs of Xichan Temple and also understood the Buddha's nature of a thousand years. On such an afternoon in winter, although it is not the season of lychee, you can sit quietly under the lychee tree facing the direction of the Buddha, let your restless heart calm down, say goodbye to 2023, and reconcile with your past self.
