✅Must-visit family attractions
1️⃣ Angkor Wat: Also called Little Angkor, the iconic building on Cambodia’s national flag, a must-visit! Let kids admire the beauty of ancient architecture; the afternoon light and shadow are stunning, and the water reflection at sunrise is even more breathtaking.
2️⃣ Bayon Temple: Famous worldwide for the “Smiles of Khmer,” with 216 serene and mysterious Buddha faces. Tell kids the historical stories behind them.
3️⃣ Ta Prohm Temple: Filming location for “Tomb Raider,” where giant trees and ancient temples intertwine, letting kids experience the collision of nature and culture.
4️⃣ Queen’s Palace: A stunning palace made of red sandstone, exquisitely carved and known as the “Diamond of Angkor Art,” letting kids feel the artistic charm of ancient Khmer.
5️⃣ Beng Mealea: Ruined ancient temple wrapped in rainforest, full of adventure among broken walls and ruins, loved by older kids.
6️⃣ Preah Khan Temple: Ancient banyan roots entwined around walls, a symbiosis of tree and stone, fewer tourists, perfect for a slow, detailed family visit.
7️⃣ Phnom Bakheng: Join visitors from around the world to wait for a sunset, romantic and healing, giving kids an unforgettable experience.
❌Not recommended
Tonle Sap Lake + Floating Village: Not included in the site pass, requires an additional $20 ticket, the water is murky, and the sights are limited. Not recommended to waste kids’ time and energy.
🎫Ticket advice
For first-time family visits to Angkor Wat, the three-day pass is the best choice, with a reasonable time and attraction pace. The one-day pass is too short to see the highlights, and the seven-day pass is too long, which may cause kids to lose interest. To help kids better understand Angkor’s history, it’s recommended to hire a professional guide for immersive cultural education.
