Holiday Inn Express & Suites Eugene Downtown - University

I booked the hotel with a third party. We called ahead to request a room with either 2 beds or a king. We were told that rooms were assigned and we did not have a choice. We were assigned an “accessible” king. Which was close to what we wanted anyway. Upon arriving at the hotel at 6pm, we were told our room was not ready. We asked if other kings or 2 bedded rooms were available and the answer was yes. However, we were not allowed to switch from our assigned “accessible” room. I suggested that perhaps the “accessible”’room should ne saved for someone that needed it. The answer was no and we were required to wait. I thought this was rediculous and unreasonable.

We stayed here recently for the second time. This is a very clean hotel and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very well maintained and has good options. We like others have posted found the bed to be too firm. I was sorry to read in a response the beds were recently replaced. We stay only in Hamptons and Embassy Suites and these had to be the most firm of any we have slept in. Also, the parking lot is marked with mostly compact car spaces and most people aer driving SUVs or trucks which makes getting out of your vehicle difficult
Valley River Inn

Hotel environment is not bad, next to a shopping center, is the opening of the hotel around the door early, the hotel staff can also, compare nice, we rented a car, the hotel can park, the river view by the river is not recommended, there is a railway nearby Very noisy at night, the train whistle all the way, this hotel is not in the city center, if you live here, it is strongly recommended to rent a car, the airport taxi to the hotel should be between 30 and 40 knives, tipping 3 knives enough. Figure 1 is just flying over the hotel when flying to Eugene.
Comfort Suites Eugene

Stayed one night in a king suite. The room was clean and the bed was a welcome sight after 15 hours of travelling coast to coast. Shower was good with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was ok but the egg omelet things and the biscuits were a bit cold and needed to be popped in the microwave to be edible. The hotel is convenient to the interstate with an easy off and on. It is a bit isolated though with only a Denny's and a gas station. If you need more than that plan ahead. We checked in at 10 pm which felt like 1 am from traveling from east coast. The front desk was friendly and very efficient at getting us checked in.
Fairfield Inn & Suites Eugene East/Springfield

The hotel is close to the high-speed, navigation is easy to find, as a way to take a break from Vancouver to San Francisco, the American breakfast is simple but the fruit is fresh, especially the strawberries are very good, the green leaves are hard. There is also homemade waffles, son super love, very good stay experience. Consider staying on the return trip.
Timbers Inn

My husband and I decided at the last minute to stay the night in Eugene because we were attending an event at The Hult Center. Driving back home that night, an hour away, didn’t seem appealing. The Timbers was appealing to me because of the proximity to the Hult Center and the appearance and age of the property. This motel was a cross between MCM and Twin Peaks which made it even more charming but had been recently updated with new flooring, wood slat ceilings as well as new fixtures. The front desk staff was very friendly for both the check-in and check-out procedures which a quick and easy process. I requested to be on the ground floor for our single, queen bed motel room as I have some mobility issues. The staff provided us a room on the ground floor on the back side of the building which we were able to have a parking spot right in front of the room. The room was cleanish. There was some black stains on the comforter, which looked like ink, the carpet at the front door was pretty gross, the table was a bit dirty and for the few minutes I walked on the wood floors without socks and shoes, my feet became dirty. But, aside from that, the room was fairly clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked great which was amazing since it was in the high 80’s during our visit. The old charm of the room was amazing, the original shower and tile, along with the MCM style furniture and wood ceilings throughout. Aside from the carpets and floors in our room, the complaints I have were how loud the upstairs guest was. I’m surprised that when they installed the new wood ceilings, they didn’t install new insulation in the ceiling to help absorb the sound. Apparently, the upstairs guest needed to be awake at 5am and leave by 6am. It sounded like they were moving furniture and stomping back and forth the entire time and then let the door slam. My other complaint was the breakfast available was incredibly limited. The bacon didn’t look like it had been cooked at all, more like it was heated in the microwave for maybe 1 minute. The pastries were sad looking and there just wasn’t much of a selection. Personally, I think they could do away with the bacon and other hot items as none of them looked very appetizing. If you want a good breakfast for a really good price, go to Mandy’s just a few blocks away. We will definitely stay here again if we need to visit Eugene overnight. But I would rather walk up and down the stairs in pain than be put in a downstairs room again. Also, I would prefer a King size bed and a bathtub over a shower, but that’s personal preference.
