The seafood pie and beet salad I ordered were flavorful and filling, setting a new standard for museum caf&eacute;s. Despite the busy atmosphere, the experience was enjoyable and worth a return visit.

Was our first afternoon tea in London and while reading uther reviews we were a little worried as some folks seemed to have mixed experiences.  However our experience was perfect.  The service and ambience were great and the tea and food were amazing. So very glad this was our first afternoon tea as it a memory we will carry for ever

Restaurant in The Montague on the Gardens

Our waiter was amazing , tentative but not too over tentative, food was in abundance and the savouries were lovely, particularly the salmon quiche. So much nicer than the usual salmon sandwiches! The restaurant itself has a 1990&rsquo;s feel about it, not really to my taste but I guess it&rsquo;s aimed more at families and kids! Great afternoon tea!

This restaurant has a colorful decoration that adds to the pleasant dining experience. The staff is attentive, making it a great place to enjoy a meal.

Love it here so much! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is lovely. There&rsquo;s a great selection of drinks and food too!

We travelled from Suffolk to attend a wedding at Islington Town Hall. The location of the cafe was ideal.   It was an extremely enjoyable visit with lovely food and friendly helpful staff.  Highly recommended.

When I booked this, it escaped me that it was situated in the Caf&eacute; Royal Hotel. What a beautiful setting, on the balcony of the main reception to the hotel; and what history. Adorning the walls are memorabilia of days gone by and the rich and famous, who frequented the hotel. For instance, adjacent the dining area is an annexe that was home to the final performance of David Bowie as his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. Elsewhere, there are pictures of Lulu, Mick Jagger and Lou Reed and many others. We chose to eat from the set menu and the food was superb. Service was swift without being rushed, and tables are well spaced so even when busy there is no feeling of being cramped, indeed quite intimate at our generous round (as many of them are) table. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant as a must see place, and we&rsquo;ll be back too as it&rsquo;s just too good for a one off visit. As a post matinee theatre dinner, this was perfect for us, a haven in an otherwise bustling area of London.

Happy to visit this lovely spot in my local community. Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I&rsquo;ll definitely be back! As a suggestion, a couple of high protein options would be great.
