Bratislava Castle is a landmark overlooking the capital and was built in the 9th century. As a eternal symbol of the city, it stands proudly on the hill above the Danube. In the past, eleven kings and eight queens were crowned in Bratislava. The castle stands at an important crossroads of the ancient route. The first traces of the settlement on the mountain can be traced back to the Stone Age and Bronze Age. The place was strategically geographically important during the Great Moravian period.
