The Puffinbilly steam train slowly travels through the picturesque Dentonnon Mountains. We sit at the window and out of the car, admiring the forest, grassland, pastures and fairytale homes. The vehicles and passers-by encountered along the way waved their hands to greet us, especially kind and interesting. The terminal has a small lake, full of autumn colors, walking on the plank road by the lake, very leisurely and comfortable.

The train was an interesting experience as we could sit with our legs hanging outside the train. However, the whole time was 45 mins and it would get quite boring after 15 mins. The terminal was a lake station up on the mountain and there was only one restaurant

Having experienced the Puffing Billy Railway firsthand, I can attest to its charm and beauty. As the historic steam train winds its way through the lush forests of the Dandenong Ranges, you're treated to picturesque views and a sense of nostalgia. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Australia's rich railway heritage and stunning natural scenery.

love the experience of this Puffing Billy Railway.Had so much fun sitting on the carriage sills with my legs hanging out, and enjoying the scenery. We took the route from Belgrave to Lakeside. Pls remember to book your tickets online and arrive on time.

We were planning a trip onpuffing Billy to cap off our Christmas break, but found the online tickets had sold out. The website advised us that there would be tickets available on the day - sure enough we jumped straight on the 10.30 tonLakeside from Belgrave. What a lovely journey! Legs dangling out if the train through beautiful forest and a rickety bridge. A couple of hours exploring Lakeside, riding the pedal boats and eating ice cream before heading back. Snacks and a picnic are a must! Although there are a couple of cafés at the other end. The stationmasters, conductors and drivers were perfectly in character and made the whole experience magical. Look out for the wooden carved snake not far out of lakeside and the 1953 landslide site - both led to some interesting conversations with the children. Enjoy!
