The Italian presidential palace, the Quilinare Palace, is near the Wish Pool, built in the eighteenth century, originally the papal palace (equivalent to the Summer Palace), the Italian kingdom in 1870 after the march of Rome to drive away the pope, the Italian palace (the king's residence). In 1946, Italy was converted into a republic and it became the presidential palace, the Italian president is a ceremonial function. The palace is huge, with a large garden, but not open to ordinary tourists, and there is an ancient Roman obelisk on the square.
