Royal Mile is the central avenue of Edinburgh's Old Town and is the cultural, historical and artistic centre of Edinburgh. Part of the World Heritage Site. A must-visit in Edinburgh. The street began at Edinburgh Castle and finally at Holy Lutheran Palace, about1 Scots mile (1,820 meters, always thought to be a mile). Royal Mile Avenue is divided into four sections. Each section has its own characteristics. ① Castle Hill: A small slope in front of the castle is called Castlehill, there are many shops and hotels related to the castle culture, and the Scotch Whisky Cultural Heritage Center is here. ② Lawnmarket: The next small section is called the Lawn Market, with shops on both sides mainly operating Scottish cashmere, tourist souvenirs and bars. ③ High Street: After the intersection of George IV Bridge Street (or bank street) starts to be called High Street, St Giles Church is on the High Street. High Street is the city center of Edinburgh, the most prosperous area for business, and the City Hall (or Parliament Hall) is here. ④ Canongate: The section after the intersection of St. Mary's Street is called the Monastery Gate, surrounded by various museums, the Scottish Parliament and the Queen's Gallery (The Queen''s Gallery). At the end is the Holy Lutheran Palace.
