I had dreamed of coming here for many years, and I can still hardly believe my luck.
Our tour group was small and our guide, Akrivi, was excellent. So much to talk about -- ancient civilizations, myth, history, archaeology, art, architecture. She gave us detailed explanations, and in the end put it all together in a way that linked the myth to the reality. Nice job, Akrivi!
It was hot and sunny, but worth every minute.★

Simply the best. The highlight of our trip. Akrivi is an ideal guide and makes everyone feel she speaks to them. I studied classics at university, and I still found I learnt new things; my friend knew very little about the subject but also felt it was perfectly pitched for her. It's not a private tour that you can book just for your own family, but the groups are still so small that it feels like it is and everyone gets their questions answered in detail. (She had sophisticated answers to everything we threw at her!) We were really impressed by her fluency, both in the English language and just in her natural speaking style. She must give this tour several times a week, and yet we still felt like the jokes and key lines were being delivered fresh, for the very first time, just for us.★

Reviews: Day Trip to Agios Nikolaos and Spinalonga Island

We done this trip on 3rd October with Altino Travel Services. A short journey from Hersonissos to our first stop at the coastal city of Agios Nikolaos. We visited a few souvenir shops on route to view the lake from above. Then walked down to the harbour and finished off with the statue of Zeus. AN is much less touristy than Heraklion and Chania and a real treasure. Then a short drive up to the small village of Elounda for some lunch before the boat journey over to Spinalonga Island. Our Lady Guide (didn't get her name) was fantastic, gave great insight to the places visited and the Island of Crete in general. She spoke perfect English and French and was great fun. Spinalonga Island is a must visit for those interested in culture and history. We first done the boat around the island then disembarked for 1.5 hours to explore. You can easily walk around the base of the island in a hour. It is a little bit hilly in places but nothing too difficult. For those who want to see the upper part of the island and take in the best views you need to take a lot of steps or slopes so need to be quite fit. On the way back to Elounda, some of the group were able to take a swim around the boat in the shallow and clear waters. We then headed back late afternoon. The trip was around 9 hours overall and great value.★

Elafonissi is very crowdy in top season! You will not get a sunbed or an umbrella! But a very lovely place, so spend time in the water; taking pictures! ★

This guided tour was the highlight of our time in Crete. The information that Henry shared with my husband & I was mind-blowing! THE most entertaining & informational tour we had the entire time in Greece, including the Acropolis in Athens. We would definitely do this tour again. We cannot wait to read & study everything there is to know about this place. Henry was a true inspiration to learn more KNOWLEDGE!
