Guide Yang is an outstanding tour guide whose service elevated our travel experience to a whole new level. Throughout the trip, he constantly paid attention to everyone's needs, proactively helping with photos and finding the best angles, creating many wonderful memories. His care for the elderly and children was particularly meticulous, ensuring their comfort and enjoyment during the journey. We booked this tour in advance and were already scheduling the others. This wasn't our first time on such a tour in China, and we had a general idea of ​​the format. The driver and guide arrived on time, and along the way, we discussed stopping at the helipad. The guide suggested doing it first, which turned out to be a very smart decision. Overall, we were lucky with the lines that day; we spent less than an hour standing at the turnstiles. The driver and guide made our trip comfortable and helped with all the necessary details.

Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.

Our tour guide, Li Xue, was very professional and polite. Her explanations were engaging and clear, and she could describe the architecture of the Forbidden City, down to every brick and tile, in great detail, sharing many interesting stories. She also interacted with the group members during her explanations. Our family was very satisfied. I highly recommend hiring a guided tour when visiting the Forbidden City.
