Reviews: Beijing Essential Private Day Tour: Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace with Multilingual Options

A very well-organized tour. Tana met us at the hotel. We gained a wealth of information and impressions of Chinese culture. Our guide spoke excellent Russian, understood each other very well, and was very responsive to our needs. We visited three major Beijing sights in one day. We had a wonderful time and were thrilled. This tour isn't ideal for those looking for a long walk, but it was perfect for us, as it was already cold outside and our time to visit the sights was limited. I'd especially like to mention the organized lunch; it was delicious. Great value for money! And of course, at the end of the tour, we were taken to a tea ceremony. I'd like to point out that we encountered no pitfalls on this tour; everyone was driven smoothly throughout, delivered to the hotel, and there were no additional expenses. Lunch is, of course, at your own expense 😊. Thank you for the interesting and informative tour; we loved it!

Mike was a great guide! He explained everything very well and was never boring. It was also possible to visit the bedrooms of the emperor and the empress. It was a very nice day.

Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.

Even though it was my first time in Beijing, he took great care of us, making sure we didn't feel overwhelmed. He even used a translator to guide us through everything, even though we weren't fluent in English. Most importantly, I appreciated the wealth of information he provided about Chinese history, particularly regarding the Forbidden City. He was so passionate, even without gloves, in the cold weather, that I felt both grateful and sorry for him. Next time I visit, I'll learn more English and ask him to help me. I apologize for not thinking about it and having hot chocolate alone during our break.

Guide Wang's explanations of the Forbidden City are incredibly professional! He effortlessly connects the historical context of the Ming and Qing dynasties with the architectural regulations of the palaces, providing detailed and thorough explanations of everything from mortise and tenon joinery to court anecdotes. His presentations are engaging and insightful, avoiding rote memorization. The itinerary is well-planned, avoiding crowds and allowing you to discover lesser-known facts. He patiently answers questions throughout, maintaining a perfect pace. Following him on a tour of the Forbidden City not only lets you see the sights but also deepens your understanding of the cultural heritage behind them – a truly enriching experience!
