For my 6-day, 5-night trip, I bought a 5-day Kansai Wide Area Rail Pass. It was an incredible value! It took me from Kansai Airport to my hotel, then to Himeji Castle, then to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Then, I went to Wakayama and Shirahama, even using the Kodama Tram at Kishike Station, and finally back to Kansai Airport. It was incredibly practical and saved me money!

Very good, convenient and fast to use. It is convenient and fast to go to Tottori, and you can reserve designated seats in Matsue and other places, which is very useful.

enjoyed the trip very much. from booking to redeem, all good. it just that i wish i knew that the Reserved Seat ticket is actually limited to 5 times only. so plan your trip well, especially when in Tottori & Shimane, the express train mostly only All Seat Reserved Seat

Although the price has increased, it's a fantastic value, with a 7-day Shinkansen and express train ticket costing the full amount. Redemption is easy at Kansai Airport, with designated seats available at the green window. JR Passes allow you to use sleeping trains, but you'll need to pay for express trains and beds.
