Reviews: Half Day Group Tour to Discover Forbidden City (English speaking guide)
Guest User2025-11-15
Marco was an excellent guide. He shared a wealth of information about the Forbidden City, including interesting facts and anecdotes. His English was fluent and understandable. I highly recommend visiting the site with him. For three and a half hours, he led us through the labyrinthine courtyards of the Forbidden City, never letting us get bored.

Skip the line only means you don't have to buy a ticket on-site, not that you skip the entrance line. Otherwise, excellent service.

We had the best time on Leo's private tour with our guide Lilia. She was so informative and her English was perfect! It had just snowed the night before so the city looked so beautiful. Lilia brought her camera along and captured some amazing photos for us. The whole tour was so relaxed, we went at our own pace and had lots of time to explore and ask all the questions we wanted, mostly we didnt need to ask questions though because Lilia told us everything we wanted to know! If i return to Beijing (which i will one day!) Lilia will be the first person I contact!

Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.

Guide Wang's explanations of the Forbidden City are incredibly professional! He effortlessly connects the historical context of the Ming and Qing dynasties with the architectural regulations of the palaces, providing detailed and thorough explanations of everything from mortise and tenon joinery to court anecdotes. His presentations are engaging and insightful, avoiding rote memorization. The itinerary is well-planned, avoiding crowds and allowing you to discover lesser-known facts. He patiently answers questions throughout, maintaining a perfect pace. Following him on a tour of the Forbidden City not only lets you see the sights but also deepens your understanding of the cultural heritage behind them – a truly enriching experience!

Xiucai said that Guide Li (Xiaohai) took me to visit the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City truly deserves its reputation as one of my country's and even the world's most precious cultural heritages. The magnificent palaces and exquisite treasures were breathtaking and unforgettable. The mysterious court history and the rise and fall of the Ming and Qing dynasties evoked mixed feelings in people's hearts. Guide Li's explanations were meticulous and vivid, combining engaging stories with detailed historical facts. He also shared many fantastic photo spots and suggestions for future visits. Very helpful! In short, this trip to the Forbidden City was well worth it. My child was also deeply educated and inspired; for three hours, he followed Guide Li closely, listening with rapt attention! 😀
