Mina was fluent and detailed in her explanations of the summer palace. I was lucky as the only tour participant, She suggested meeting earlier in order to avoid the weekend crowds which proved to be a good idea. She also gave good historical context on how the palace and grounds were constructed and used and offered additional tips for exploring the grounds after our tour ended.★

Julie our guide was excellent. She told us all about the summer palace and answered any other questions we had about china. She went out of her way to get us somewhere to leave our luggage and got us a taxi for our train when we were running late and hadn’t WeChat. I'll remember this day for a long time! I'll list the positive aspects: the bus picked us up on time, the air conditioning was on and it was very warm, and our guide, Jessie, was very kind and helpful! She speaks very good English! Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.
