Enjoy a small group full-day tour of Tuscany villages and wine regions from Siena and travel into the heart of the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Visit the town of San Gimignano, the wine territory of Chianti, and the Montalcino fortress.
Begin your day with a visit to San Gimignano, the city of a hundred towers and a UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage site. Enjoy free time in the town’s historical center, where you will find local artisan shops and millenarian palazzos. San Gimignano is also the birthplace of Vernaccia, a white wine produced exclusively here, famous for its high quality and also for being the first Italian DOCG wine.
After a brief visit, relax at a Chianti wine estate, enjoy a guided tour of its wine cellars, and gain an insight into the various stages of wine production. Afterward, enjoy some wine tastings. You will try 4 different types of wine, (Spumante Cuvée, Chianti Riserva, Toscana Rosso, Spumante Rosé) so that you will understand in detail the differences in taste and texture between different bottles. Enjoy also a selection of salami and tasting of 3 extra-virgin olive oils (Frantoiano Biologico, White Truffle, Chili Pepper) and 2 balsamic vinegars, (of Modena, Lacrime Viola) paired with bread.
Continue with a trip to Val d’Orcia, another jewel in the Tuscan territory and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004.
Travel to Montalcino, which from its hill dominates the 1500 hectares of Brunello vineyards that have contributed to making the area world-famous. Stop at a local wine cellar where you will taste the renowned Brunello of Montalcino, which finds its place among the first Italian DOCG wines. The second winery visit includes a visit to the vineyards and the winery, followed by a tasting of some of the best wines in one of the two panoramic tasting rooms available. The tasting features the following wines: 2 IGT Toscana Rosso or Toscana Bianco, 1 DOC Rosso di Montalcino, and 1 DOCG Brunello di Montalcino. The tasting also includes a sampling of bruschetta made with home-produced olive oil, along with a selection of local cured meats and cheeses.
