The Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Full-Day Trek begins with an early 4:00 am pickup from the designated meeting point in Cusco. After gathering the group, we travel southeast of Cusco for approximately 2 hours to the town of Cusipata, where you’ll enjoy a hearty Andean breakfast to prepare for the hike.
Following breakfast, the journey continues for one additional hour by vehicle, passing through high-altitude Andean valleys, rural landscapes, and traditional Quechua communities, until reaching Pullawasipta (4,600 m / 15,090 ft), the starting point of the trek.
The hike to Rainbow Mountain takes about 1.5 hours at a steady pace. Along the way, you’ll encounter llamas, alpacas, and locals wearing colorful traditional clothing, all set against dramatic Andean scenery.
At the summit of Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain (5,200 m / 16,200 ft), enjoy free time for photos, rest, and panoramic views. Your professional guide will share insights about the mountain’s geology, cultural significance, and the surrounding Andes. You’ll also have time to relax or enjoy a light snack while taking in the unique multicolored landscape.
After the visit, we descend back to the trailhead and return to Cusipata for a delicious local lunch, before driving back to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon.
