Top Experiences & Travel Essentials in Sapporo

Sapporo is located on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, and stands out with its grid-like city layout and Western-style architecture, which is a legacy of 19th-century urban planning during the Meiji era. Sapporo knows how to do winter right. When the snow falls, ski resorts buzz to life and the Sapporo Snow Festival turns downtown into a glowing world of ice and creativity. Some of the best things to do in Sapporo include catching sweeping views from the Sapporo TV Tower, strolling through Odori Park, and, of course, sipping a cold glass of Sapporo beer, brewed right where it all began.

Reviews: Hokkaido Noboribetsu & Lake Toya, Cape Chikyu & Lake Shikotsu Day Tour

All the attractions were absolutely beautiful! The itinerary was very well-organized; I don't know how much time it would have taken me to go on my own. Our tour guide, Ms. Liu Sheng, provided detailed and patient explanations throughout the day trip, sharing a wealth of historical, geographical, and cultural knowledge, which was a pleasant surprise and added a lot of enjoyment to the journey. Thank you, Ms. Liu Sheng, for your excellent service!

Wonderful tour and great snowmobiling experience (JPY20000/2 pax/snowmobile or JPY15000/pax/snowmobile, extra payment in cash only). Get to taste some local farms milk-based products (yogurt, pudding and gelato). A great trip!

Both snowmobiling and the bear ranch are worth experiencing. Before setting off, I thought they were similar, but in the end, I went to both. Snowmobiling is better with one per person (15,000 yen per snowmobile, cash only). At the bear ranch, it's 1,000 yen per person, and food is 200 yen per bag, also cash only. You can bring apples—I love their apples—it's really cool! The itinerary is a bit hardcore, so buy plenty of convenience store snacks to eat on the go.

Akhiro is a great guide - friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. The whole evening felt like hanging out with an old buddy and bar hopping around cool local spots. He will listen to your questions carefully and provide honest feedback about what's good and what's not so good when it comes to best places to eat (e.g. tourist trap vs. where locals actually eat). His recommendations were all spot on when I tried the next day.
Reviews: 1-day tour to Hokkaido highlights: Forest elf terrace + Asahiyama Zoo + Shirogane Blue Pond (Aoiike) + Shirahige (admission ticket included)

Old Li was such a help to us at Asahikawa Zoo today! She planned our itinerary perfectly and even gave us some really sweet tangerines – so thoughtful! Later, when our train schedule suddenly changed, Old Li didn't hesitate and took us to the JR station's ticket window. She communicated with the staff in Japanese and busied herself helping us resolve the complicated rebooking process. We were so grateful to her; otherwise, we don't know how long we would have been stuck in this mess. We were so lucky to have such a helpful tour guide on our trip! Thank you, Old Li! ♥️

The attractions were all nice, and the tour guide was very charismatic, especially Onodera.
