We will meet and start the tour at Oppio Caffè, located at Via delle Terme di Tito, 72. Our tour will commence at this iconic meeting point, right in front of one of Rome's most famous landmarks, the Colosseum.
We will explore the famous Colosseum from the outside and admire its impressive architecture and rich history. Built in 80 AD, the ancient amphitheater known as the Colosseum hosted gladiatorial contests and public spectacles, embodying the grandeur of the Roman Empire.
Afterward, we will pass by the Roman Forum and head towards Circus Maximus. As we walk through the Roman Forum, we will be transported back in time, imagining life in the heart of ancient Rome where politics, commerce, and daily life flourished. The Forum dates back to 7th century BC and was the nucleus of Roman public life. Moving on to Circus Maximus, we can envision the thrilling chariot races that captivated up to 250,000 spectators. It was once the largest stadium in ancient Rome, measuring over 600 meters in length.
We’ll take a short break at the peaceful Giardino degli Aranci, where we can enjoy stunning views of the city and relax for a moment. In this beautiful garden, also known as the Orange Garden, we will see breathtaking panoramic views of Rome's skyline, including St. Peter's Basilica. Established in 1932, the garden features an optical illusion that perfectly frames the dome of St. Peter's Basilica, providing a mesmerizing view that we will experience.
Next, we’ll head to Gianicolo Hill, where we can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Rome. Known as Janiculum Hill in English, this spot is not just for its views but also for its historical significance. It was a key defensive point during the Roman Republic and will offer a unique perspective on Rome's urban landscape.
The tour will end at Piazza Navona, one of Rome’s most lively squares, famous for its three iconic fountains. Piazza Navona stands on the site of the ancient Stadium of Domitian, which was built in the 1st century AD. As you stroll around this bustling square, you will marvel at the artistry of Bernini's Fountain of the Four Rivers, the Moor Fountain, and the Fountain of Neptune. Surrounding the square, you will see a vibrant mix of cafes, restaurants, and art galleries; making it the perfect place to conclude your visit to Rome.
