Woljeongri Beach is located on the coastline of northeastern Jeju Island, known for its fine white sand and clear, light turquoise water. The nearshore water is shallow and the waves are gentle, making it incredibly pleasant to take off your shoes and stroll through the surf. Looking out at the sea, a row of white wind turbines stands in the distance, creating a highly recognizable backdrop. The colorful chairs lined up on the beach facing the ocean are a popular photo spot. On sunny days, the water is crystal-clear, making every shot picture-perfect. It is also a well-known spot on Jeju Island for watching the sunrise; in the early morning, photography enthusiasts often wait on the beach for the sun to rise above the horizon. In the summer, you can also see visitors surfing and kayaking. Drying squid is also a unique fishing village scene here, with rows of squid slowly air-drying in the sea breeze, adding a touch of local charm. Hamdeok Beach is located in the northeastern part of Jeju Island. Due to its proximity to Seoubong Peak, it is also known as Hamdeok Beach. It is famous for its white sandy beach and emerald-colored water, and is known as the Maldives of South Korea, making it one of the representative beaches on Jeju Island. Tall palm trees at the entrance sway in the sea breeze, and the water is so clear that you can see the sand and seaweed on the seabed. The water is shallow and the sand is fine, making it suitable for swimming and family-friendly water play. There is an offshore boardwalk on the west side of the beach, where you can stroll and enjoy the ocean view. The white lighthouse on the basalt coast guides fishing boats and is also a great place to watch the sunset. Nearby Seoubong Peak is covered with golden canola flowers in spring and is lush green in summer. You can hike to the top along the trail to overlook the entire bay, and on clear days, you can even see Hallasan National Park in the distance. The ocean-facing lawn nearby is suitable for picnics and relaxation. Jeju Olle Trail Route 19 passes through here, allowing visitors to hike along the coast or experience activities such as surfing, jet skiing, and banana boating. There is also a pet-friendly beach area, making it convenient for visitors to bring their dogs to enjoy the water. Even if you don't participate in water activities, you can take a walk along the coast, splash in the waves, enjoy the sunset, and experience the coastal scenery of Jeju Island.Jeju City · 13.7 km from downtown

Udo

6.4
4.7/5
1.9k reviews
Udo, known by various names such as Coral Island, Haenyeo Island, and Lighthouse Island, is a small island located in the eastern part of Jeju. The island is shaped like a lying cow, hence the name Udo, which means "Cow Island." Apart from the parasitic volcano Udobong of Hallasan, the island is generally flat, with steep cliffs where it meets the sea. 80% of the filming for Jeon Do-yeon's "My Mother, the Mermaid" took place on Udo. Choi Ji-woo's "Now and Forever" and Jun Ji-hyun's "Il Mare" also featured scenes shot on Udo, making it one of Jeju's representative tourist attractions. The peak standing on the flat land of Udo is Udobong. Its unique height offers a panoramic view of Udo and even a glimpse of Seongsan Ilchulbong. Climbing up the slope along the fence to the top, you arrive at the white lighthouse. The path connecting the lawn and the reed field seems more charming than the view from the top of the lighthouse. A few cows scattered among the bushes remind visitors of the island's name. Unknown wildflowers sway in the wind, creating a romantic scene akin to a lyrical poem. There are also miniature models of lighthouses such as the Sokcho Lighthouse and the Pagoda Lighthouse on display here. The path to the lighthouse is quite steep, making it unsuitable for the elderly or infirm to climb. Additionally, "Udo Eight Views" are the representative landscapes of Udo, including four pairs of scenes: Day and Night (Daytime Moon, Night Fishing Sails), Heaven and Earth (Tianjin Mountain View, Dito Green Sand), Front and Back (Front Port Island View, Back Sea Cliff), East and West (East Coast Whale Cave, West Beach White Sand). The Back Sea Cliff and East Coast Whale Cave, part of the Udo Eight Views, are located under the towering Udobong. The Back Sea Cliff is 20 meters high and 30 meters wide, surrounding the Black Sand Beach, famous for its black sand. The East Coast Whale Cave, located at the end of the beach, is one of Udo's famous caves, named for its capacity to hold eastern whales, also known as "Nose Cave." The entrance to the East Coast Whale Cave is visible only at low tide. Enjoying the outside sky and sea view from inside the cave offers a unique experience.Jeju City · 39.2 km from downtown

Hallasan National Park

1k reviews
Hallasan National Park centers on Hallasan, which stands at an elevation of approx. 1,950 m. The main peak is a shield-shaped dormant volcano, and its name means "high enough to pull the galaxy." The crater at the summit is filled with water, forming Baengnokdam, and is surrounded by over 300 parasitic volcanic cones. The vegetation on the mountain changes with altitude, transitioning from subtropical plants at the foothills to cold-temperate forests at higher elevations, creating a rich natural landscape. The snow-capped summit is particularly striking in winter, and the late snow at Baengnokdam is one of the local natural sights. Hiking is the primary way to explore the park, with the Seongpanak and Gwaneumsa trails leading to Baengnokdam. The Seongpanak trail is longer but relatively gentle, offering views of forests and alpine plants along the way; the Gwaneumsa trail passes through Tamna Valley, Samgakbong Shelter, and other locations, with more varied terrain and a steeper final section. From late spring to early summer, azaleas in the high-altitude areas bloom one after another, contrasting beautifully with the deep green fir forests. If you prefer a shorter hike, you can also choose the Eorimok or Yeongsil trails. Neither of these trails leads to Baengnokdam, but they offer views of valleys, forests, rock walls, and unique rock formations along the way.Jeju City · 15.5 km from downtown

Aewol Coast Road stretches along the northwestern coastline of Jeju Island, spanning approx. 9 km, and offers beautiful coastal scenery along the way. The road hugs the winding coastline, where black volcanic rocks, sea-eroded cliffs, white waves, and clear blue water complement each other; on sunny days, the sea takes on a transparent emerald hue. The road features bike lanes and walking paths, making it suitable for self-drive tours, cycling, and hiking, and it is also part of Jeju Olle Trail Route 16. You can stop along the way at Gueom Port, Sinam-ri Breakwater, and Gonae Port to enjoy the ocean view. This coastal road faces the open western sea and is a great place to watch the sunset. In the evening, the setting sun paints the sea and black reefs in warm orange hues, creating a unique and charming scene. Many ocean-view cafes and homestays are located along the road, where visitors can relax in seaside seats, sipping coffee while enjoying the ocean view. The nearby Handam Coastal Walk is approx. 1.2 km long, offering a view of exposed basalt intertwined with clear seawater, perfect for a leisurely stroll along the coast.Jeju City · 20.9 km from downtown

Nuwemaru Street (Pedestrian Shopping Street)

4.2/5
457 reviews
Nuwemaru Street (Pedestrian Shopping Street) is a pedestrian-only street where cars are prohibited. In 2011, the China Baojian Group organized a trip to Jeju for its employees. To commemorate this large-scale visit, the local government renamed the street, originally called Yinnan Road, to "Baojian Road." In 2017, following a public naming contest, it was renamed "Nuwemaru Road," a name derived from the Jeju dialect that signifies that the terrain of New Jeju resembles a silkworm cocoon. Today, the old name "Baojian Road" is still used by some Chinese-speaking tourists. This street is over 400m long and is lined with beauty shops, clothing stores, sportswear shops, and various restaurants and cafes. There is a wide range of dining options, such as Korean BBQ and seafood dishes. The street is relatively quiet during the day, making it suitable for shopping. After dark, restaurants and bars light up, and street performers often appear on weekends, creating a livelier atmosphere. The area surrounding the pedestrian street is part of the Yeondong commercial district, which features duty-free shops, hotels, and various dining venues. It is also not far from Jeju International Airport, making it a great place for shopping, dining, and leisurely strolls. Some shops offer Chinese-language services, making it convenient for tourists to communicate and shop.Jeju City · 4 km from downtown

Hyeopjae Beach is located on the west coast of Jeju Island and is a seaside beach characterized by its white sand and clear water. The sand is mixed with fine powder formed from crushed seashells, which is light in color and soft in texture, creating a striking contrast with the black basalt rocks. On sunny days, the water appears a clear blue-green, and the beach has a gentle slope and shallow water, making it suitable for water play. The area around the beach is dotted with pine forests, lawns, and palm trees, where you can take walks or camp in the shade and enjoy the natural coastal scenery. Biyangdo, visible on the sea, is a representative view here. The island's silhouette, set against the white sand and blue sea, creates a layered coastal scene. In the evening, the sunset slowly descends toward the sea, and the scenery of the sea and sky changes accordingly. There are also resting areas along the coast, perfect for stopping to enjoy the view. The southwest side of the beach connects to Geumneung Beach, and the coastal scenery of the two beaches each has its own characteristics.Jeju City · 29.5 km from downtown

When you come to Jeju Island, black pork has become a must-try food. The black pork street is actually not very long. There is a street of about 50 meters long from north to south. On both sides of the street, there are barbecue restaurants mainly focusing on black pork. This food street is a must-see food gathering place for tourists who love barbecue. . However, the hottest and most popular one is the "Dolphin" on the left side of the street. The store is quite large, and you have to queue up after 7 o'clock in the evening.Jeju City · 1.7 km from downtown

Yongduam Rock

On the coast of Jeju City, there is a huge rock with a height of 10 meters and a length of 30 meters. This is Yongduam, a tourist attraction in Jeju. It was formed by the accumulation of lava that erupted from Halla Mountain 200 years ago. It is named Yongduam because the rock is shaped like a dragon head floating on the sea. A good place to view Yongduam is about 100 meters away from the west side of Yongduam. When the waves are big, the scenery is even more spectacular, as if the dragon jumped out of the sea with a roar due to the wrath of the gods. In the evening, Yongduam Rock with the sunset as the background is even more beautiful. At night, there will be lights here, shining directly on the faucet that has surfaced, which is very beautiful. In addition, according to local people, this place is a popular place for Korean couples to fall in love in summer, and many Korean dramas also have scenes here. About 200 meters east of Longtouyan there is a Longchi, which is said to be the place where dragons swim, hence the name Longchi, also called Longyuan. The water is crystal clear. The surrounding strange rocks and evergreen forests form a screen, which was called "Longyuan Night Sail" in the old days, and its night view is fascinating. Many tourists go to Yongduam to take commemorative photos or take a walk. Since there is a place where haenyeo fish for seafood, there are also simple cafeterias where you can taste conch shells. Yongduam is about 15 minutes' drive from Jeju International Airport, and you can also walk to Ramada Plaza Jeju, Jeju Oriental Hotel, and Jeju Roboru Hotel. If you visit Jeju Island, don't miss the spectacular scenery of Yongduam Rock!Jeju City · 2.6 km from downtown

I visited Jeju Island during my trip to South Korea. Located in southwestern South Korea, Jeju Island is the largest island in the country and its only special autonomous province. The direct flight from Guangzhou to Jeju Island takes about two and a half hours. Jeju Island is famous for its volcanic landscape and mild climate, earning it the nickname "Korea's Hawaii." In 2007, its natural landscapes, including Hallasan Mountain and lava caves, were listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Famous attractions on the island include Hallasan Mountain, lava caves, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and the Olle Trails, among others.

The island has its own unique atmosphere that you won’t find on Jeju or on the Korean mainland. You can circle the island on an electric bike in 4–5 hours, but I’d dedicate a whole day to this trip. And be sure to try the local culinary delights.

Hallasan Mountain, one of South Korea's three most famous mountains, is located in the center of Jeju Island. At 1950 meters, it is the highest peak in South Korea. Hallasan is an extinct volcano, with Baekrokdam, a volcanic lake with a diameter of 500 meters, at its summit. Due to its high altitude, the climate exhibits a vertical distribution from subtropical to frigid zones, and the mountain is home to over 1800 plant species and over 4000 animal species. In 1970, Hallasan was designated a Korean National Park, and in 2007 it was designated a World Natural Heritage Site.

Black Pig Street (흑돼지거리) is located in Geonin-dong, Old Jeju City, just a 3-5 minute walk from Dongmun Traditional Market and Chilseong-ro Pedestrian Street, and a 20-minute drive from Jeju Airport. The street is very short, only 50-60 meters long, with over 30 barbecue restaurants lining both sides. The entire area is themed around black pigs, with a prominent archway and black pig sculpture at the entrance. It's the most concentrated place in Jeju Island to eat local free-range black pork, a popular spot for locals to dine and for tourists to take photos.

It's a free attraction. I walked there from the hotel where I stayed. I passed through a rapeseed field and a beautiful suspension bridge to reach Longtou Rock. There was no one there when I went there. It was almost reserved. The coast next to it was also beautiful.
