Qingjiang Painting Valley Scenic Area

Qingjiang Painting Valley Scenic Area

11 reviews
Enshi Qingjiang Painting Valley Scenic Area is located between Huaping and Jingyang towns along the Qingjiang River, serving as the core zone of Enshi Prefecture's premier mountain outdoor sports destination, covering 605.90 hectares. This area integrates majestic karst canyons, spectacular cliff formations, and millennia-old Tujia cultural heritage, featuring three main sections: cliff sightseeing, water activities, and extreme sports, where dynamism and tranquility blend into a picturesque harmony. At 1,000 m above sea level, visitors can stroll along cliffside walkways through the "Tima Stone Sea," tracing geological imprints of hundreds of millions of years; experience the awe-inspiring "Cloud Walk" atop sheer precipices; or savor coffee in cliffside caves while mountain breezes whisper romantic wilderness moments. Panoramic views reveal "Five-Colored Sunset Glow" painting the ridges and the serene "Smiling Reclining Buddha," embodying nature's philosophical wisdom. The 418 m sightseeing elevator descends through clouds, while cliff hiking trails trace mountain ridges. Extreme adventures thrive here: rappelling, bungee, and high-altitude rope swings defy gravity; off-road vehicles weave through floral forests; gentle water slides wind downhill; jungle treks unlock woodland exploration; paragliding rides thermal currents to overlook Qingjiang's panoramic scroll; and gyrocopters carve the sky to capture the canyon's grandeur. Water activities offer equal exhilaration: speedboats chase waves, leisure cruises glide across emerald waters, and flyboarders vault above the river, showcasing Qingjiang's meandering beauty and picturesque banks. The "Butterfly Cliff" waterfall cascades like silk while "Nine-Tiered Springs" tumble down - boat journeys through these scenes evoke the poetic sentiment of "sailing on jade waves, wandering through a painting." Imbued with Tujia cultural legacy, the landscape features Xilankapu textile patterns and Ba ethnic totems carved into cliffs, ensuring every experience blends natural wonders, adrenaline thrills, and cultural resonance.Jianshi · 37.4 km from downtown

I bought the C-line package ticket, and after the whole loop, honestly, the shuttle bus ticket wasn't necessary. It could have driven directly to the park entrance, but the navigation kept setting it to the visitor center. From the visitor center to the main entrance, it's all village roads, and there were no barriers; you could just drive right in. Another thing to complain about is the entire route from the boat to the elevator – it's all stairs, like climbing over ten flights of stairs! The point of taking a boat and an elevator is to avoid walking or being too tired to walk, right? Adding so many stairs is just exhausting! It would have been better to just walk out – at least that's flat ground, not climbing stairs. So tiring! 😫

Very worth a visit. 1.5 hr shuttle each way from nearby the Enshi train station, but the actual site took me less than 2 hr. As a white person in a rural China community, it probably would have been faster but the domestic tourists kept stopping to take photos with me. This region you will probably need to rely on a translator app because most people did not have any English. The site has self serve luggage lockers that require WeChat to scan but are pretty easy to use.

The attractions we visited were all quite nice, though a bit tiring. The driver was very steady and provided excellent service. I almost forgot a piece of clothing, but the driver kindly brought it to me – thumbs up!

After arriving at the Butterfly Rock Scenic Area, although the glass plank bridge is a shortcut, the fee is obviously too high. It is better to choose to climb by yourself. It takes about fifteen minutes to reach the top, and then choose to slide down by aerial cable car. It costs 30 yuan per person. Overall, the scenery of Yesanxia Scenic Area is quite beautiful and worth a visit.

My child always loves a challenge and completed the S-shaped route in two and a half hours. We had a one-on-one coach take photos, and they turned out great! Plus, the view of the Qingjiang River from here was amazing.

Qingjiang Painting Valley has pristine ecological landscapes, green mountains and clear waters. You can see the scenery on both sides of the river by taking a cruise. The Tujia folk customs are prominent and unique. There are few people and the scenery is beautiful, so it is very comfortable to visit.

We, a group of retired seniors, went to Huaping Town, Jianshi, Enshi for the first time to escape the summer heat. The owner of the B&B told us that this scenic spot is very good. If you go there early, you can see the sea of clouds. After going there, it was really worth the trip. It was so beautiful! It felt more beautiful than Huangshan. Here are the photos to prove it!
