Shigenobu Izumi's family temple. It is said to be the oldest temple in Iiyama city. It was opened as a shugendojo of the Tendai sect during the Eijin era. Initially "Egishiji". After a temporary decline, it was rebuilt as "Eiganji", and later renamed "Eiwaji" to the present day. The main hall was made by later generations (Ansei ３ year). Under the control of Kenshin Uesugi, the master of the domain, yataro Kojima, committed suicide in this place on the way back to Kasugayama Jo castle with a deep hand in the battle of kawanakajima, and there is still a grave behind the main hall.
