Sori Yanagi exhibition place
Original Text
We fell by chance on this small place of free exhibition on the Japanese designer Sori Yanagi. A very beautiful surprise! We learned plenty of things about this designer and his work....
I didn't know there was such a place in Kanazawa, so I happened to find it when I was looking at Google Maps and visited it. It is located just south of the Izumi Kyoka Memorial Hall. It was a facility where design materials such as works were collected because Mr. Sori Yanagi was teaching at Kanazawa University of Arts and Technology. In fact, the exhibition space was set up like being in a house, for example, his works were placed on a dining table or kitchen, and it was a space where you could imagine your actual life ...
The works designed by Sori Yanagi are displayed in several spaces that imagine daily life. It was a nice space that made me think that I could live in such a room, such as a kitchen, a dining room, and a living room.
If you know the name of Sori Yanagi, you should feel that it is a wonderful facility. This facility was opened by the University of Kanazawa Arts and Crafts because it served as a professor at Kanazawa University of Arts and Crafts for a long time. The production of the living space, the tableware produced by him (although it is influenced by his father soetsu Yanagi), the design, and the kitchen utensils are exhibited in the practical space. It seems that the heart is healed in the sleek space directed. It matches the atmosphere of the town called Owari Town ...
He is a representative product designer in Japan and exhibits products designed by Sori Yanagi, the son of Soetsu Yanagi, the advocate of folk art. Since he taught at Kanazawa University of Arts and Crafts, the works deposited in 2012 are permanently exhibited at a special exhibition. The panel introduces an explanation about Sori Yanagi and the transition of product design. Although the scale is small, the works and the exhibition method were good. Free admission. Permanent exhibitions can be photographed.
