Architecture like a church
Original Text
A temple that you can see even in Teramachi. Even though it is a temple, it looks like a church. There is no mountain gate, so you can easily enter it. This is the family temple of the Ishibashi family in Bridgestone.
A temple of the Soto sect in Teramachi, Kurume. There is no mountain gate in this temple, and it is a brick gate pillar. Furthermore, the main hall is a church-like building. This main hall was donated by Mr. Shojiro Ishibashi, the founder of Bridgestone. There is also a tombstone of Mr. Shojiro Ishibashi in the precincts.
A few days ago, when I happened to pass by the gate, the ume in the precincts was in full bloom. I changed my schedule and fashioned it with Umemi in Teramachi, but one of the several (the tree closest to the main hall) is cherry blossoms. The expected date for cherry blossoms in Fukuoka Prefecture is tomorrow, so it may be a different species. Anyway, you can enjoy the full bloom ume and cherry blossoms at the same time, and this guy is lucky from spring!
It is a Zen temple in Teramachi, Kurume City. The keyword that anyone in the know knows is the family temple of the Ishibashi family. The structure is super unique. It looks like a Christian church, the main hall is like a chapel, and although there is a bell tower, there is no so-called mountain gate. The statue of Kanzeon Bodhisattva next to the main hall is also Mary-like. That and that, it's worth a look.
The bulletin board facing the road may guide you on the day when you can zazen. The chair-type main hall has a novel Western-style design not only for the exterior of the building but also for the interior.

Auspicious from spring.
