Lovely guided visit in French of his house. Good reminder of his work for the Provençal language and delightful poetic work that reflects the provençal way of living.
Despite having been to Maillane many times in past years we had never ventured into the museum - but it was fascinating. Prompted one of us to read Mireille (in French)
The first floor (we were told, only not by our guide) is apparently in disrepair, so you can only see the ground floor. Perfectly competent and knowledgeable guide, if a little perfunctory. Four euros...
Mistral's home and museum in the sleepy little town of Maillane are about as removed from the current touristy, fairground feel of St Remy as one can get. Combine with a visit to Les Baux or St Remy....

Visit of 1904 Literature Nobel Prize house
