This is a statue of proud man standing upright. It had something to do with commemorating of the a new subway line.

This is located in the west 3-chome (south side of the 2-chome side) of Odori Park. It is said that the Hokuyo Mutual Bank (currently Hokuyo Bank) installed a youth statue in 1951 to promote the greening of Odori Park in line with the new construction of the main building and the opening of the Tozai Line of the subway.

Odori Park is dotted with various public art in a large area, but this male statue is unusually placed on the south side and is not conspicuous. However, many bronze statues have women as motifs, so the male statue feels the strength of the pioneering period.

There are many statues displayed in Odori Park, but I got the impression that all of them are surprisingly small. Many of the statues seem to have been donated, but there may be restrictions such as size when receiving donations. This statue is about the size of a human being or a little smaller than that, but overall I feel 々.

There is a statue of "Lake Wind" by Yoshisada Yamada in Odori Park West ３ Chome. In 1976, the Hokuyo Mutual Bank (current Hokuyo Bank) was a youth statue established in accordance with the new construction of the head office building and the opening of the subway Tozai Line, and the greening of Odori Park was promoted. This is a work that was selected specially at the Nikkei Exhibition.
