GGuest User: Staff was pleasant and hotel relatively clean. Breakfast was marginal, at best. The biggest complaint I have is the charge upfront for ”incidentals” (20% of the rate). I just learned that even though we had no incidentals the charge to my credit card for that was not credited at checkout, but instead will show up on my credit card later. I was informed that could take up to 2 weeks! Choice Hotels or the individual hotel are thus using every patron's money for 2 weeks--I call that a scam!

GGuest User: The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the Pearl Street pedestrian mall; which is why we chose the hotel. Room was very comfortable, also clean and quiet. A very good value compared to other hotels that are close to Pearl Street. The only downside: no breakfast in the morning, only coffee. Recommended for a stay for Pearl Street browsing.

This is the Fjallraven Classic Global Trekking 2026 US heavy-load backpacking event Together with Fjallraven, we backpacked 50 kilometers in the US. This was the second day of the trek. The entire day was overcast, everyone had a different pace, and I couldn't see anyone ahead or behind me. We ascended from an altitude of 2,800 meters to a peak of 3,600 meters, seeing lakes and mountains. I carried 34 jin of items, including a tent, sleeping bag, inflatable pad, three days of food, water, simple toiletries, a down jacket, a T-shirt, pants, and five or six other clothing items, as well as the trash I generated daily, and many other outdoor supplies. We weren't aiming to be first; everyone moved at their own pace and rhythm. We experienced heavy rain and lightning, as well as intense sun. We saw many animals like moose, rabbits, squirrels, and pheasants. At night, we sealed food and scented items in bear canisters to prevent bears from coming to our tents. For these three days, there was no signal and no place to charge devices. We were cut off from the world, and our happiness came from all the surprises the outdoors brought. We walked on gravel roads, through streams, across meadows, and over potholes. We were tired but happy. Along the way, we helped and encouraged 300 people from different countries. At the campsite, we boiled water to prepare food. We set up our own tents to sleep in, without showering or washing our hair, just brushing our teeth and simply splashing lake water on our faces. Perhaps it was a bit messy, but who cared? We were all like that. When people are away from the hustle and bustle of society, their desires always decrease. Simple food makes us happy, and simple things bring great joy. This is my understanding of the meaning of trekking, and it's also a truly eco-friendly journey.

#easytravelpost Brainard Lake Rec Area (RMBR, 9,500 ft) sits in the Indian Peaks front country; the Long Lake Trail (1 mi from the Long Lake TH, or 2.2 mi from Brainard lot) runs through subalpine spruce-fir with Polytrichum on the boardwalk 2 cm, Isothecium on the Engelmann spruce 1 cm, Sphagnum in the Niwot Ridge seep 3 cm, 5°C in June, the white-crowned sparrow, the Navajo Peak wall east. $14/vehicle day-use (2026 still uses timed-entry reservation Jul–Aug, book 2 weeks ahead), Boulder→Nederland→Brainard 1h15. I based in Nederland (cabin $115), drove to the Brainard gate 07:00 with a 07:00–09:00 reservation slot, paid $14 card at the booth, parked at Long Lake TH, walked to Long Lake (1 mi). The moss on the lake's outlet log was black-green with rime, ate a $9 Boulder breakfast burrito, watched cloud lift off Apache Peak at 09:00. Mistake: I showed up 10:30 in Aug without a reservation — turned back to Nederland, rebooked next day; reservation or 06:00–07:00 / 17:00+ slot only. Another: Brainard Rd closes Nov–May (snow). Would you pay $14 + fight the reservation for the Brainard→Long Lake mossy subalpine forest walk, or skip Brainard and do the free Chautauqua Royal Arch instead?

Notes Regarding itinerary flow and avoiding traffic while driving: On Day 1, attractions are concentrated downtown with scarce parking, so walking or ride-hailing is strongly recommended. On Day 3, the drive is long, and the US-36 and I-25 highways from Boulder to Denver typically experience rush hour congestion around 4:30 PM, especially on Fridays or holiday eves. It is advised to strictly follow the 4:40 PM departure time from Chautauqua Park. Regarding construction risks at the 16th Street Mall: The mall is currently undergoing a major renovation. Some core sections are fenced off or rerouted, so the pedestrian street is not in perfect condition. Please check the official website for real-time updates and plan your walking route accordingly. Regarding opening days and visitor limits at key attractions: The Molly Brown House Museum and Clyfford Still Museum are closed on Mondays. If there is a major event at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the interior seating will close after 2:00 PM. Please verify schedules on the official website in advance. Regarding tickets and timed reservations: It is recommended to purchase electronic tickets online in advance for the Denver Art Museum and Denver Botanic Gardens. The Colorado State Capitol gold dome tour has visitor limits and requires online booking 3-7 days ahead (15+ days in peak summer). Denver’s high altitude and large temperature differences between day and night require sun protection and awareness of altitude sickness; carry a jacket with you.

#northernlights A trip to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in Boulder, Colorado, is not a guarantee like in polar regions, but during significant solar storms, it offers a surprisingly intense display. I experienced a spectacular show during a rare G4 geomagnetic storm—a truly unforgettable natural spectacle against the backdrop of the Front Range. However, patience and preparation are crucial, as it's a "high-risk, high-reward" chase. 🌟 Key Things to Know for Seeing the Northern Lights Near Boulder: · Rarity & Intensity: Aurora visible to the naked eye in Boulder is rare, typically requiring a severe geomagnetic storm (Kp index of 7 or higher). Most sightings are faint or only visible via long-exposure photography. · Best Viewing Time: The prime window is generally 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM (local time), with the most intense activity often peaking around midnight. · Optimal Season: While they can happen any time, geomagnetic disturbances are slightly more common in Autumn and Spring (March/April and September/October). Winter offers the longest dark nights. · Check the Forecast: Crucially, monitor space weather alerts. Use resources like the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (spaceweather.gov) for the Kp-index and aurora viewline. · Get Away from Light Pollution: Boulder has city glow. Drive to a high-elevation, dark-sky spot with a clear view to the North. Options include: · High Peaks: Up in the mountains (e.g., near Nederland or Gross Reservoir) but be mindful of clouds. · East of Boulder: Areas like the Pawnee National Grassland or far northeastern plains offer less light pollution. · Camera is Key: Even if faint to the naked eye, your camera (DSLR or modern phone with a "Pro" or "Night" mode) can often capture the colors. Use a long exposure (5-10 seconds) and a tripod for stability. · Patience and Warmth: Dress in multiple warm layers. Auroras can surge and fade in waves. Be prepared to wait outdoors for a few hours. Bring a chair, blanket, and hot drink. · Minimize Light: Use a red flashlight to preserve your night vision. Avoid looking at white lights (including your phone screen) while waiting.
Saw rattlesnakes, nice trail. Steep inclines, not for everybody. Elevation isn't too drastic here, but you still may need to be prepared. There are plenty of rock climbers to watch. Really nice area. About 8 miles from Boulder. I wouldn't put this in my Top 10 hikes, but it was not hard to find and it is not a difficult area to hike. There are some trails there that are very easy. Views were pretty good towards the top. State Park fee was $9.00 per vehicle. Pretty cheap to have access to a bunch of trails.
137***66Eben G. Fine Park is a community park. It doesn't have many special features and is a simple park. There are nearby residents and children riding bicycles. It is a place full of life.
