Far from the hustle and bustle of Ding'an Ancient City, heading towards Yunlong Countryside, the Thirty-Six Bend Stream meanders through thousands of acres of rice paddies. The river meanders nine times, its waters shallow and clear year-round. The rice paddies on both banks change color with the seasons, egrets often skim the surface, and coconut palms and wild bamboo grow freely along the banks. There are no sophisticated commercial facilities here, only country lanes stretching along the field ridges. Farmers cultivate and plant rice according to the seasons, letting the stream flow with the terrain, never forcibly altering its course. In the morning, a thin mist covers the entire field; in the afternoon, the clouds drift slowly, and the flowing water, ceaseless day and night, gently converges into the distance. In the mundane world, we always hope everything remains constant, insisting on holding onto the beauty before our eyes, resisting all change. Once life deviates from our predetermined path, we fall into anxiety. But all things in heaven and earth are in constant flux; the stream never stays in one place, and the fields flourish and wither with the seasons—change is the natural order of things. Strolling along the stream and field ridges, quietly watching the water meander forward, I slowly let go of the desire to control everything. I accept the ebb and flow of life with equanimity, not clinging to any particular moment, but moving naturally with the passage of time. As twilight blankets the fields, I begin my return journey, hoping to cultivate a mindset of acceptance amidst the changing world, finding lasting peace and tranquility in its ever-changing nature. Let us brew new tea with newly kindled fire, enjoying poetry and wine while we are young.
