He County, known as Liyang in ancient times, is located in eastern Anhui at the edge of the Yangtze River Delta region. It is at the forefront of the development of the Wan River, and is an important hub for the waterways of the Yangtze and Huai rivers. The region has over 20 natural and cultural attractions, including the Wu River, where Xiang Ji, the Chu overlord, took his life with his own sword; Tianmen Mountain, which served as the inspiration for a poem by Li Bai; the “shack” which Liu Yuxi was banished to; the springs where Crown Prince Zhaoming of the Southern Liang dynasty healed his maladies; and Zhenhuailou, which the Hongwu Emperor of the Ming dynasty climbed in order to inspect his troops.
