\Enjoy Authentic Charcoal-Grilled Yakitori Starting from Noon/ — traveler post in Hyogo Prefecture

\Enjoy Authentic Charcoal-Grilled Yakitori Starting from Noon/

Pair delicious yakitori and sake starting from the afternoon! I visited a standing yakitori bar I found in Motomachi, Kobe. 📍Kobe Motomachi | Toritsuku @tachinomiyakitoritoritsuku Opened in May 2026, "Toritsuku" is a spot where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled yakitori made with fresh Awaji chicken delivered every morning. Since they open at 12 PM, it's a paradise for daytime drinking enthusiasts ☺️ It’s hard to find places where you can eat yakitori starting at noon, so this is a real treat! 😍 Watching the yakitori grilled over high flames right in front of you is enough to whet your appetite 🔥 You get that signature smoky charcoal aroma paired with the juicy flavor of the chicken. It’s also great that skewers are very reasonable, starting at just 140 yen each 😏 They also have a fantastic selection of sake 🍶 It’s wonderful being able to enjoy your favorite sake while snacking on yakitori 😊 The owner is as friendly and welcoming as ever. It turns out the owner is a motorcycle rider! 🏍️ If you're a bike enthusiast, you'll probably have a great time chatting about motorcycles over your yakitori! A place where you can enjoy delicious yakitori, sake, and conversation with the owner. Highly recommended for a midday drink in Motomachi ☺️ 🚃 2-7-20 Motomachidori, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Hyogo Within walking distance from JR/Hanshin Motomachi Station. ーーー

Heiji and Kazuha's romantic pilgrimage site 📍 Osaka · Abeno Harukas 300 — traveler post in Hyogo Prefecture

Heiji and Kazuha's romantic pilgrimage site 📍 Osaka · Abeno Harukas 300

Before coming to Osaka, I didn't have high expectations for the observation deck, especially since I've never even been up the famous skyscrapers in Lujiazui. But after going up Abeno Harukas, I realized that taking in the view from a skyscraper is quite an experience. At 300 meters up, seeing the entire city spread out before you is truly breathtaking. ❤️ A romantic pilgrimage site for Heiji Hattori's confession The story of Heiji Hattori and Kazuha Toyama unfolds right here in Osaka. The most important photo spot here is the exact location where Heiji Hattori successfully confessed his love! Standing here and looking down at the city, you can't help but imagine the stories that happened between Heiji and Kazuha on the streets of Osaka. 🚻 Possibly the most unique high-altitude restroom in Osaka You must visit the restroom on the 59th floor—it's amazing! The back of the vanity is a floor-to-ceiling glass window. When you wash your hands while looking in the mirror, the distant, undulating skyline becomes your backdrop. It's a truly rare experience. 🏙️ The tallest building in Kansai At 300 meters, Abeno might not seem like much back home, but it is the tallest building in the 🌸 Kansai region. To the west, you can see the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Awaji Island; looking north toward Kyoto, Osaka Castle, Tsutenkaku Tower, and Tennoji Zoo are all right beneath your feet. The view is incredibly expansive, allowing you to clearly see the boundaries of Osaka. If your Osaka itinerary already includes busy districts like Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi, I recommend setting aside half a day to see the city from a different perspective. Rediscover the city from 300 meters up. 📍 Abeno Harukas 300, Osaka 1-1-43 Abenosuji, Abeno-ku, Osaka 🚉 Transport: Within walking distance of Tennoji Station/Osaka Abenobashi Station. After ticket validation, take the elevator directly to the 60th floor. ⏰ Hours: 9:00 AM–10:00 PM (Last admission at 9:30 PM) 💴 Admission: JPY 2,200 ⏱️ Recommended duration: 2–3 hours 🎒 Tips: I recommend entering about 1 hour before sunset to catch the daytime view, sunset, and night view all in one go.

Japan's autumn foliage season is here again! — traveler post in Hyogo Prefecture

Japan's autumn foliage season is here again!

I spent a week in central Nagoya with my girlfriends last year for the autumn leaves. It was such a comfortable and amazing trip, guys! 🥹 · Unlike the modern vibe of Tokyo and Osaka, this area leans more toward rural towns and natural scenery. No bustling tour groups here—just peace and relaxation. 🤫 The route is lined with ancient streets that have existed since the Edo period, offering even more rustic charm and elegance than Kyoto. The best part? Lots of delicious food and low prices! 💰 I still think about it even now; the post-trip blues are real. 😭 · 🗺️ My route: Tokyo → Kanazawa (2 days) → Shirakawa-go (1 day) → Takayama (2 days) → Narai-juku (1 day) → Tsumago-juku & Magome-juku (1 day) → Nagoya 🍁 [Kanazawa] The only East Asian city on the 2025 National Geographic list 🏆 📷 Kenrokuen Garden: One of Japan's three most beautiful gardens; the yukitsuri (snow hanging) pine tree design is incredible! There's also a limited-time night illumination event in autumn ✨ 📷 Higashi Chaya District: An ancient street full of fun little shops; don't forget to try the famous gold leaf ice cream 🍦 📷 Oyama Shrine, Kanazawa Castle Park: No need to fight crowds to photograph the maple leaves; you'll get great shots effortlessly 📸 📷 Omicho Market: Tuna, sea urchin... you can eat your fill of fresh sashimi for about 100 per person 🦐 🍁 [Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri Village] A pilgrimage site for the anime "Higurashi When They Cry." A quiet little village with a vibe similar to Hemu. Autumn scenery + snow-capped mountains = breathtaking beauty 🏔️ 🍁 [Takayama] Famous for Hida beef, which rivals Kobe beef, at half the price of Tokyo or Osaka 🤩 📷 Miyagawa Morning Market: A cozy morning that rivals the Kamo River. 📷 Hie Shrine: The filming location for Mitsuha's shrine in "Your Name" ✨ 📷 Takayama Old Town: Ancient wooden shops with many traditional sake breweries along the way. 📷 Hida Kokubun-ji Temple: A 1,200-year-old ginkgo tree with fallen leaves covering the ground. 🍁 [Narai-juku] The old stone-paved street is lined with wooden houses from the Edo period. When the lights come on in the evening, it feels just like "Spirited Away" 🏮 🍁 [Tsumago-juku] Like Magome-juku, this was an important post town on the Nakasendo Trail. A super quiet Edo-period town. After the autumn equinox, sunlight streams through the wooden windows of the Waki-honjin Okuya into the room by the hearth, creating a stunning scene. 🍁 [Magome-juku] A bit livelier than Tsumago-juku. Rustic buildings stretch along the slope, with frost-covered, snow-capped peaks in the distance. Below, red leaves flutter in the wind—it's absolutely stunning at sunset 🌇 · 📝 Tips: ✅ Japan is in late autumn by late November to early December, and it gets quite cold, especially in the Shirakawa-go and Takayama areas 🥶. With the recent high incidence of flu in Japan, I was glad I had the habit of wearing a mask and didn't catch it 😷. I always carry a small medicine kit when traveling now. Besides bandages and other first-aid supplies, I also bring Xofluza during flu season. Basically, I take it, sleep, and recover by the next day. It also reduces the risk of infecting my companions, making travel more worry-free 💪. ✅ Transportation: You can take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kanazawa, which takes about 2.5 hours. We chose to take an overnight bus, which takes about 8 hours; although it's long, the fare is cheap and it saves on accommodation costs! For Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go and Shirakawa-go to Takayama, take the Nohi Bus. I recommend booking your tickets in advance at the office outside Kanazawa Station on the day you arrive 📝. Take advantage of the autumn foliage season and save this hidden gem route! 🥰🍁

KOBE IN THE RAIN ☔ — WHERE HARBOUR LIGHTS, MISTY MOUNTAINS AND JAPANESE ELEGANCE COLLIDE 🌧️ — traveler post in Hyogo Prefecture

KOBE IN THE RAIN ☔ — WHERE HARBOUR LIGHTS, MISTY MOUNTAINS AND JAPANESE ELEGANCE COLLIDE 🌧️

What if one of Japan's most beautiful harbour cities became even more enchanting when the rain arrived, with shimmering waterfront lights, atmospheric hillside streets and cosy cafés waiting around every corner? ✨ Forget the postcard of brilliant sunshine over Osaka Bay. Imagine ships drifting across a silver-grey harbour, elegant Western-style houses emerging through the mist, and colourful neon signs reflecting across rain-soaked streets. Welcome to Kobe, a sophisticated port city nestled between the Rokko Mountains and the sea, where international influences, Japanese traditions and a vibrant food culture create a wonderfully distinctive atmosphere. Here, rain adds a cinematic touch. Water trickles down leafy mountain slopes. Historic buildings glisten beneath cloudy skies. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee escapes from little cafés, while welcoming restaurants serve sizzling teppanyaki and world-famous Kobe beef. Beyond the busy shopping districts, quiet lanes and waterfront promenades reveal a city that feels especially inviting when the pace slows down. 🍃 ☔ FIVE WAYS TO EXPERIENCE KOBE IN THE RAIN 1. 🏛️ Explore Kitano Ijinkan. Discover the historic Western-style residences built by foreign merchants and diplomats. Their distinctive architecture offers a fascinating glimpse into Kobe's international past. Visit selected indoor properties for shelter, and check opening arrangements before arriving. 2. 🌃 Admire Kobe Harborland. Wander through waterfront shopping and entertainment areas, where the harbour, illuminated buildings and colourful Ferris wheel create beautiful views after rainfall. Explore indoor shopping complexes when the weather becomes unpleasant. 3. 🚠 Discover the beauty of Nunobiki. If conditions allow, venture towards the Nunobiki area for views of the city and surrounding mountains. Mist can create spectacular scenery, but rain and strong winds may affect ropeway services and walking trails. Check conditions before setting out. 4. 🛍️ Browse Kobe's covered shopping streets. Explore lively arcades around Sannomiya and Motomachi, filled with boutiques, bakeries, cafés and local shops. These sheltered streets make it easy to enjoy the city's everyday atmosphere without worrying about every passing shower. 5. 🥩 Savour Kobe's famous food culture. Find a welcoming restaurant and experience authentic Kobe beef, freshly prepared teppanyaki or comforting Japanese curry. Pair your meal with a warm drink and let the rain outside provide the perfect backdrop. 🌧️ A PRACTICAL KOBE TIP Bring a compact umbrella, waterproof layers and shoes with good grip. Coastal weather can change quickly, and mountain excursions may be affected by poor visibility or strong winds. Check transport updates and weather warnings before travelling. Kobe reminds us that a city doesn't need perfect sunshine to shine. Sometimes, rain makes the harbour more atmospheric, the cafés more inviting and the little discoveries even more memorable.

Autumn Leaves Viewing in Kansai Starting from Osaka — traveler post in Hyogo Prefecture

Autumn Leaves Viewing in Kansai Starting from Osaka

When it comes to enjoying the autumn foliage in Japan, it’s not just about visiting Kyoto. Starting from Osaka, the Kansai region itself offers a variety of autumn landscapes: the mix of red and yellow in Osaka’s parks, the layered maple colors in Kyoto’s gardens, the ancient temples and forest paths in Nara, and the autumn scenery paired with hot springs in Kobe’s mountains. 1. Why can’t you just pick one month for autumn leaves in Japan? 🍁 Don’t just ask, “Are the leaves red in Japan in November?” Instead, consider where you’re going and which week you’re planning to visit. Weather forecasts and weekly updates from specific spots are more reliable than fixed dates from previous years. Also, note that autumn leaves and ginkgo trees offer different colors: for a golden yellow landscape, head to ginkgo-lined avenues; for a mix of red, orange, and yellow, mountain forests and gardens are better options. The overall viewing season typically lasts from late October to early December. Areas like Hokkaido and Daisetsuzan turn colors earlier, while Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara in Kansai usually reach their peak later in the season. Some regions in Kyushu may even see autumn colors later than that. 2. Kansai as the Main Stage: Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe⛩️ If it’s your first time visiting Kansai, combine autumn leaf viewing with city experiences. Kyoto offers classic sights like temple gardens, Arashiyama, and Togetsukyo Bridge, perfect for leisurely strolls and detailed exploration. Nara’s parks, ancient temples, and forest trails provide a more relaxed pace. In Kobe, you can pair the scenic views of Mount Rokko with a visit to Arima Onsen. Each area offers a unique experience, so there’s no need to cram everything into one day. Osaka is more than just a hub for accommodation and shopping. Osaka Castle Park is great for a city walk, while Minoh offers beautiful valleys and forests. If you want to explore autumn scenery around Osaka, plan your route based on proximity and travel time. Your itinerary should also consider your departure time, your companions’ energy levels, and how long you want to spend at each spot. Kansai’s popular autumn leaf spots can get crowded. To enjoy a more relaxed experience, start early, avoid weekends, or divide Kyoto into smaller areas for separate visits. Using Osaka as your base makes it easy to plan activities within the city and trips to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Shiga, and Wakayama. If you’re traveling between cities daily, don’t forget to factor in travel time. 3. How to Plan One-Day or Multi-Day Routes from Osaka 🚗 If you’re short on time, stay within Osaka or choose one nearby destination. With two to three days, you can plan separate trips to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, or Shiga. For example, if you love temples and gardens, allocate more time to Kyoto. If you want to combine natural scenery with hot springs, consider Kobe, Mount Rokko, and Arima Onsen. For a more relaxed itinerary, reduce the number of spots and allow ample time for meals and walking. Popular autumn destinations often experience traffic congestion, so the order of your route, pick-up/drop-off points, and time spent at each location can significantly impact your experience. Even a slight change in departure time can make a big difference in your day. 4. Tokyo, Nikko, and Hakone Have Their Own Autumn Charm 🗼 If your flight or vacation is centered around Tokyo, the Kanto region is also worth exploring. In Tokyo, you can visit ginkgo-lined avenues, parks, and gardens. For mountain and water scenery, consider adding Nikko, Lake Chuzenji, or Hakone to your itinerary. Around Mount Fuji, the views of the mountain and lakes are especially stunning on clear days, with autumn colors adding to the beauty. 5. From Hokkaido to Kyushu, Autumn Leaves Across Japan 🗾 For early autumn, keep an eye on Hokkaido’s Daisetsuzan and Sounkyo Gorge. If you enjoy valleys and lakes, check out Oirase Stream and Lake Towada in the Tohoku region. Central Japan offers high-altitude landscapes and hot springs. In Hiroshima’s Miyajima, Shikoku, and Kyushu, you can combine autumn scenery with coastal views, local cuisine, and hot springs. 6. Pre-Trip Tips to Keep in Mind 📌 ✅ Autumn leaf colors depend on weather, altitude, and specific locations, so even within the same city, the timing can vary. Once you’ve set your dates, check recent photos and updates from the spots you plan to visit. ✅ Wear comfortable, non-slip shoes, especially for forest trails that may become slippery after rain. ✅ Arrive early at popular spots and avoid overloading your itinerary. This autumn, take some time to slow down and truly enjoy the scenery.

\ Not Just Himeji Castle: A Relaxing Stroll Through the West Side / — traveler post in Hyogo Prefecture

\ Not Just Himeji Castle: A Relaxing Stroll Through the West Side /

It’s been a while, Himeji. This time, I took a leisurely wander around the west side of the castle! Even though it's right next to Himeji Castle, there were so many spots I never knew existed😏 📍Donjon First, breakfast at a classic old-school cafe. Rather than being in the heart of a tourist trap, it has a lovely atmosphere that feels integrated with the locals. Their "morning service" system is incredible—if you order a coffee, it comes with toast, a boiled egg, and fruit! The value for money is just too good🥺 And the owner was absolutely wonderful. The best! I love starting a walk from a place like this. 📍Himeji City Museum of Literature @himejibungakukan Heading to the museum northwest of Himeji Castle. ...Though, my goal this time wasn't literature, but architecture. It’s a building designed by Tadao Ando! It was built so you can walk through while incorporating Himeji Castle as part of the scenery, and the combination of the historic castle with modern architecture is fascinating. 📍Bokeitei (Former Hamamoto Residence) Then, to the retro building on the museum grounds. In contrast to Tadao Ando's inorganic concrete architecture, this is a Japanese-style space that blends into the garden, utilizing the former Hamamoto residence from the Taisho period. The Japanese rooms and tea rooms are registered as National Tangible Cultural Properties. Surprisingly, you can tour it for free. A hidden gem. I couldn't see the Japanese rooms this time, but I was able to see the inside of the tea room😊 The building is lovely, but the garden with its pond and greenery is truly beautiful. Including the gap with the space I was just in, I really liked it here! 📍Otokoyama Water Service Reservoir Park From there, over to Otokoyama. What appeared before my eyes was a towering flight of 198 steps😂 After climbing up while out of breath, I found a view overlooking Himeji Castle. It's selected as one of the "Ten Views of World Heritage Himeji Castle," and you can look out over the main keep and the three small keeps all at once☺️ It's a different angle from seeing Himeji Castle from the front, making the climb totally worth it. The park had beautiful flowers and was very relaxing! 📍Moku Sake Bar @moku_sake_bar A Japanese-style tavern utilizing an old folk house that retains its former charm, with plaster walls, lattices, and a courtyard creating a calm space. I came here hearing you can enjoy dishes using seasonal ingredients and sake, but it was fully booked🥲 How disappointing!! 📍coffee icca @coffeeicca Taking a break after getting tired from walking. A small cafe tucked away in a residential area, a relaxing space slightly away from the hustle and bustle of tourist spots. ⚫︎ Snack Plate (700 yen) ⚫︎ Iced Coffee (650 yen) The rice flour cake with blueberry and cream cheese had a moist texture, and the tartness of the blueberries paired perfectly with the richness of the cream cheese. Since it's made with rice flour, it wasn't too heavy and I finished it in no time😋 📍Torino Museum @torino_museum Next, to a museum where rare vintage cars are lined up. It's interesting to be able to walk around and look at the cars inside a renovated former multi-story parking garage! I'm not an expert on cars, but the shapes of old cars are just cool. I love classic cars, so just looking at the designs made me happy🥺 I want one!! 📍Coffee-ya Wacca @cafe_wacca A late lunch at Wacca in the Nikaimachi shopping district. A slightly retro and relaxing 3-story cafe with a mix of Japanese and Western antiques. It's a home-roasted coffee shop, but you can also enjoy lunch and sweets😏 ⚫︎ Lunch (1,570 yen) Daily main dish, steamed seasonal vegetables, side dishes, multi-grain rice, and miso soup. Plenty of vegetables, and it was more satisfying than it looked. In the bamboo steamer, you could really taste the sweetness and texture of the vegetables—I love these kinds of body-friendly lunches😍 I’ve walked around Himeji Castle many times, but just going a little to the west reveals a completely different scenery. The quiet, relaxing vibe was great☻ ーーー Sightseeing Cafe City

Kobe Suma Seaworld

A must-visit in Kobe is Suma Ocean World! This is one of the few aquariums in Western Japan where you can watch orcas. The sight of orcas leaping out of the water is truly breathtaking. The dolphin interactions are lively and fun. You might even get splashed by water if you're in the front row! The aquarium is divided into multiple exhibit areas, including intertidal zone, jellyfish, penguin, and seal exhibits, offering a wealth of content. You can also observe various marine life up close. The venue is thoughtfully designed, making for a comfortable and relaxing visit. The overall atmosphere is soothing, making it suitable for families or couples. After visiting the aquarium, enjoying Kobe Wagyu beef is simply perfect!

Universal Studios Japan

Overall the experience was good even thought it was a rainy day, a bit hard to explore the park and go into outdoor attractions. USJ very well organized. Super Mario is amazing as well as Donkey Kong area. You must ride the roller coaster over there. If you love zombies go in the last week of October, the atmosphere of the park is unique. It was worht the 104 USD. Avoid weekends. From Monday to Thursday is fine to enjoy.

Himeji Castle

Himeji Castle is an expensive, dapper castle, more expensive than Kumamoto Castle, Osaka Castle, and Nagoya Castle combined. It's 2500 yen per person, 2600 yen with a garden, and 2000 yen per person for groups of 30 or more. Himeji Castle is truly enormous, roughly the same size as Osaka Castle and Nagoya Castle, and much larger than Kumamoto Castle, Gifu Castle, Inuyama Castle, and Wakayama Castle. However, it's incredibly tiring; Japanese castles are always exhausting. Only Kokura Castle and Osaka Castle have elevators that allow you to climb floors one by one. Climbing six floors in the others is really tough on the legs. I recommend visiting Himeji Castle, but it's definitely a rip-off.

Koko-en Garden

The interior scenery and layout are perfect, and it is extremely suitable for taking photos or wearing kimonos. You don't need to buy tickets at the gate, but can buy a combination ticket directly at Himeji Castle for only 1050 yen (Himeji Castle 1000 + Kokoen 50), which is so cost-effective that it is basically free.

Kinosaki Onsen

Kinosaki Onsen ♨️ is a place worth returning to again and again! Compared to Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo, Kinosaki is a lesser-known tourist destination, but it's truly delightful! Kinosaki town is small, with both residential areas and hot springs concentrated. Booking a local guesthouse typically includes a hot spring package, granting access to six hot springs. Two hot springs are closed daily, so to fully soak, you'll need to stay overnight. The unique "outer hot spring tour" experience is also worth a repeat visit. Kinosaki boasts seven public hot springs. Wearing a yukata and geta, you can stroll through the town at night, visiting each one. This "walk-and-soak" experience is something many Chinese tourists have never experienced before—they all agree, "It's like stepping into the world of a Japanese movie." The experience is incredibly engaging, the atmosphere is captivating, and the fun is endless. It's a treasure trove worth returning to!

Awaji Island

[Hyogo Prefecture / Awaji Island] Awaji Island is a popular driving destination on sunny days📍 First, cross the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and go left, there is a roadside station where you can eat lunch and buy onions (^^) When you go to the back of the store, there is a square and you can see the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge🙌 There are many cafes with ocean views on Awaji Island, but I like Shiawase no Pancakes and often stop by! The pancakes you eat on the terrace with a view of the ocean are delicious🫶

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

I always wanted to checked out Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan since years ago but only now we have the chance. Sadly we were just went to Singapore Oceanarium, which is newer and had huge collections of marine life especially a lot more Jelly Fishes than Osaka. A Few differences Osaka has Whales, Penguins and Sea Lion, and Seal. Singapore does not have that. The crowds in Osaka Kaiyukan is really too crowded.
