San Francisco, situated on the Pacific coast of Northern California, is renowned for its rolling hills, vintage cable cars, Victorian architecture, and stunning bay views. 🌉 It boasts both the vibrancy of a modern metropolis and a rich historical and artistic atmosphere. Strolling through the streets, you'll see colorful Painted Ladies' houses, ride the clanging cable cars across the ramps, or experience the unique topography of Lombard Street. San Francisco's beauty lies not only in its iconic landmarks but also in the sea breeze, the slopes, the corner cafes, and the distant, shimmering bay views. 🌉Golden Gate Bridge The Golden Gate Bridge is one of San Francisco's most iconic landmarks, spanning the Golden Gate Strait and connecting San Francisco with Marin County to the north. 🌁 The orange-red bridge contrasts beautifully with the blue bay, creating its most unforgettable visual feature. The San Francisco Bay's changeable climate often brings fog from the sea, partially obscuring the bridge towers and creating a picturesque scene. 📸 Recommended Experiences: Battery Spencer: A classic panoramic photography spot offering stunning views of the bridge and bay. Crissy Field: Ideal for a coastal walk, enjoying the bridge and beach views. Walk Across the Bridge: Experience the bridge's scale up close; the view is especially expansive on a clear day. The Golden Gate Bridge is more than just a transportation bridge; it's a symbol of San Francisco's spirit of freedom, openness, and exploration. ⛵️ Fisherman’s Wharf 🦭 Must-See Highlights Pier 39: One of the most popular areas, where you can observe California sea lions perched on the floating platform. Dungeonness Crab: A classic San Francisco seafood dish worth trying. Alcatraz Island: A historic view of this former federal prison from the bay. Sourdough Clam Chowder: A savory local dish served on San Francisco's signature sourdough bread. This is the perfect place to slow down, enjoy the bay views, savor seafood, and experience the relaxed seaside lifestyle of San Francisco. 📕Stanford University 🏛️ Campus Highlights Main Quad: Sandstone walls, arcades, and traditional architecture blend harmoniously, showcasing a strong Californian campus style. Memorial Church: The exquisite mosaic decorations and stained glass are well worth admiring. Palm Drive: A straight road lined with palm trees, a classic campus feature. Hoover Tower: Offers panoramic views of the campus and surrounding area; availability depends on the day. Stanford's charm lies in its seamless integration of academic atmosphere, architectural art, and natural landscape. A stroll through the campus allows you to experience the historical heritage of a world-renowned university and the open, innovative spirit of Silicon Valley. Self-guided tours are available, ideally with approximately 2 hours for a visit. 🏘️The Seven Sisters Painted Houses: San Francisco's Victorian Architectural Icon Located across from Alamo Square and alongside Steiner Street, the Seven Sisters are a row of beautifully decorated Victorian-style houses in soft colors. They are also known as "Postcard Row." 🏛️ Architectural Features Historical Background: Built in the 1890s by contractor Matthew Kavanaugh. Architectural Style: Primarily Queen Anne style, featuring pointed roofs, bay windows, carved decorations, and delicate wood trim. Color Art: Soft pinks, blues, greens, and creams complement each other, highlighting the details of the facade, hence the name "Painted Ladies." Classic Background: The traditional timber-framed houses contrast sharply with the modern cityscape in the distance, making them one of San Francisco's most recognizable sights. 📸 Best Viewing Method: Head to the lawn in Alamo Square Park and admire the row of painted houses and the city skyline from across the street. This is also a famous spot for taking classic San Francisco postcard photos. Tip: These houses are private residences. While it's appropriate to view and photograph them from the public area, unauthorized entry is not permitted.

As the gateway to a world of serenity opens, nature unveils a magnificent gift for every visitor. Kratai Mountain View is more than just a name; it’s a living masterpiece. The brilliant blue sky, adorned with soft, fluffy clouds, stretches above lush green mountains that gently cradle this refreshing sanctuary. 🌤️💚 Smooth pathways wind through manicured lawns, sheltered by the sprawling canopies of grand trees. Vibrant blossoms frame the iconic sign, where every detail—from the stones to the soil—has been thoughtfully integrated into the landscape. Cozy retreats, inviting accommodations, and scenic viewpoints await, all overseen by charming rabbit motifs that warmly welcome every guest. 🐇💛 Whether you’re here to unwind, catch a breathtaking sunrise or sunset, or simply escape the bustle to recharge, this place fulfills every longing. The whisper of the wind through the leaves, the scent of fresh grass, and the vast, panoramic vistas serve as a gentle reminder: the truest, simplest joy is often found right here, in the heart of nature. 🤍

As a shengjian fan, I stumbled upon a bun shop in Mountain View and decided to give it a try. I ordered: · From the menu: Crab roe soup dumplings + pan-fried buns · Not on the menu but available upon request: Sweet and sour pork ribs + siu mai The service was actually quite good. Although you can see the crab roe soup dumplings and shengjian being wrapped fresh behind the glass, the taste was just average. The sweet and sour pork ribs weren't very palatable either; the meat was a bit tough. I was most disappointed by the siu mai; the wrapper on top was too thick and hard. I could only eat one bite of each; besides sticky rice, there was only a little bit of shredded shiitake mushroom inside. I'm craving pork, salted egg yolk, pork floss, shiitake mushroom, and bamboo shoot siu mai. Do I really have to make it myself? The final bill for the four dishes was US$73. I feel like I've crossed this place off my list and won't be coming back. I still prefer the shengjian at Hu Ding Ji, but unfortunately, it's a bit far.

After eating my way around California, my biggest takeaway is how rich the food culture is here: burgers, BBQ, Mexican food, Korean cuisine, Italian gelato—it feels like I've traveled the world just by eating. 🍔 In-N-Out Burger A local burger chain you must try when in California. You can get a burger, fries, and unlimited drink refills for under US$10, which is especially touching given current prices in the US. The burgers are made to order, big, and packed with ingredients—a must-eat. 🔥 Wagon Wheel American BBQ They say the best American BBQ is in Texas, but this Wagon Wheel in Mountain View is pretty good too~ The pork ribs are fragrant and so satisfying to gnaw on! 🍅 Amigo's Restaurant and Cantina Mexican food is a major cuisine in the US. They usually serve free corn chips with tomato salsa before the meal, and the Chicken Tortilla soup is like a Mexican version of dumpling soup. This is a restaurant with a sense of history, but because it's not far from Caltech, I was impressed by the conversations around me about AI and embodied intelligence. It was a surreal contrast to have such cutting-edge topics discussed in an old-school restaurant. 🥑 The Cheesecake Factory The legendary Northeast Chinese food of America. 🍝 Their signature is pasta. I recommend the four cheese pasta; if you're a cheese lover, don't miss it. It satisfies multiple cheese cravings at once. 🥢 GongJung in Rowland Heights US restaurants usually only provide tap water, so it felt so comforting to get hot tea here right away ❤️ The seafood pancake (Haemul Pajeon) is like a Chaoshan oyster omelet, packed with shrimp and squid. For the buckwheat ice noodle soup, the enthusiastic owner specifically introduced that the broth is made with apple juice. The complimentary side dishes were fresh and delicious 😋 🍦 Bacio di Latte Here are a few flavors I liked— Yoghurt Bianco: Greek yogurt flavor, rich and stretchy Lampone: Raspberry sorbet Fragola: Strawberry sorbet Chocolate Pistachio Crunch: Chocolate pistachio flavor Passionfruit: Summer limited Rosa & Vaniglia: This one is Pasadena exclusive

A busy yet cozy hotel with a pleasant ambiance and excellent service. I stayed here for a Google event. Although I had reserved an early check-in, they couldn’t accommodate it. However, the stay was still comfortable. One staff member, Keith, was exceptionally helpful and friendly, assisting me with luggage storage. The hotel also features a fantastic bar in the lobby called Jigger & Pony—be sure to make a reservation ahead of time.
