Autumn paints Mount Jiuhua—a date with Zen in the mountains — traveler post in Qingyang

Autumn paints Mount Jiuhua—a date with Zen in the mountains

Thin mist drifts over the peaks, and the forests are painted in gentle shades of orange and crimson. The breeze carries the fresh, crisp scent of mountain flora—this is the unique autumn romance of Mount Jiuhua✨. For this trip, I stayed at [Huazhu Puyuanyuan Homestay (Mount Jiuhua Tourist Service Center Branch)]. The location is excellent🚗, just 450 meters from the sightseeing resort area. It's close to Dayuan Cultural Park, Guanyin Temple, and ancient villages, making it very convenient for mountain pilgrimages or exploring the local history! This elegant, white-walled homestay is tucked away in the mountains, offering beautiful views the moment you step outside🌿. The rooms are clean and airy, with warm, soothing lighting that melts away the fatigue of your climb. The amenities are thoughtful: free parking and EV charging stations make it perfect for road trips. You can relax and chat in the executive lounge or lobby bar, or enjoy your leisure time in the game room, fishing area, or sunbathing deck🥰. The host even provides a thoughtful guide to Mount Jiuhua, helping you avoid unnecessary detours. In the morning, head to the temples through the mountain mist to pray, accompanied by the sound of chanting🏮. In the afternoon, stroll through Kecun Old Street and Laotian Ancient Village to experience their timeless charm. Return in the evening to watch the clouds drift over the green peaks from the terrace. As the pine trees sway in the breeze, your mind will slowly find peace. With the distant mountains painted in shades of deep green and autumn lingering in the air, drift off to sleep at Puyuanyuan to the sound of the mountain breeze. There's no need to rush—stay in a comfortable mountain homestay amidst the autumn landscapes of Mount Jiuhua and capture the Zen scenery and gentle moments in your photos📸.

Travel experience summary (1,400 words in total) To leisurely appreciate the full panorama of the Yangtze River, a panoramic slow-paced cruise from Chongqing directly to Shanghai is undoubtedly the best choice for long-haul travel of 10 days or more. Unlike short-term Three Gorges routes that last only three or four days, this 11-day/10-night Chongqing–Shanghai route connects the upper Yangtze canyons, middle-reach ancient cities, and lower-reach Jiangnan water towns into a complete scenic corridor. You eat and stay on the cruise for the entire trip, without the need to repeatedly pack luggage or change hotels, truly achieving a "lie-flat" travel experience. The itinerary pace is relaxed and balanced. The first half travels through the secret realms of the Three Gorges: set sail in the early morning from the mist-covered Chaotianmen Dock, and the cruise slowly enters Qutang Gorge to witness the magnificent scenery of Kuimen standing majestically on both banks. Traveling to Wu Gorge, Goddess Peak appears faintly in the sea of clouds, and the ink-wash landscape comes into view. When the cruise enters Xiling Gorge, the five-stage ship lock slowly opens and closes, allowing you to experience the magnificent momentum of a world-class water conservancy project up close. Six vertical landscape scenes unfold one by one, capturing the majestic natural scenery of the Yangtze River. Leaving the canyons, the cruise enters the Jianghan Plain. Jingzhou Ancient City carries the history of the Three Kingdoms; Wuhan's Yellow Crane Tower stands by the river, where you can climb up to overlook the rolling river water. Mount Lu in Jiujiang is shrouded in clouds and mist; Mount Jiuhua in Chizhou is filled with ancient temples; Nanjing, the ancient capital, has a long-standing charm; and Yangzhou's Slender West Lake features small bridges and flowing water. The journey transitions from high mountains and canyons to plains and water towns, with scenery layers progressing step by step. In leisure time, tourists can stay on the top open-air deck, lie on rattan lounge chairs, enjoy a cup of tea with the sunset, watch the orange-red river merge with the sky, and see migratory birds skimming across the water, creating a fully relaxed vacation atmosphere. The final leg sails downstream into the Huangpu River, docking at the Bund pier at night, where the skyscrapers of Lujiazui are brightly lit, and the international architectural complex reflects on the river, bringing the entire journey to a perfect conclusion. In terms of travel costs, the all-inclusive package at 15,999 CNY per person offers excellent value for money, including 10 nights in a river-view balcony room, three buffet meals throughout the trip, all shore attraction tickets, and tour guide services, with no hidden consumption, making it suitable for family trips and leisure vacations for middle-aged and elderly people. Regarding diet, we strictly abide by food safety regulations and the Yangtze River fishing ban policy. All aquatic products are selected from regular farmed ingredients; no wild Yangtze catches are used, and the menu contains no non-compliant promotions. Sichuan/Chongqing "Jianghu" cuisine, Hubei fish cake, and Jiangnan Huaiyang cuisine are served in rotation, with a balance of meat and vegetables, traceable ingredient sources, and standardized, hygienic cooking processes. This allows you to taste local specialties along the river while firmly adhering to the bottom line of compliant operations. The entire 11-day journey spans six provinces, from the mountain city of Chongqing to the metropolis of Shanghai, covering 2,400 kilometers of the Yangtze River waterway, including majestic canyons, historical ancient cities, Jiangnan water towns, and urban night views. The slow-paced cruise abandons rushed travel, turning the journey itself into scenery. During the day, go ashore to visit cultural relics; in the evening, quietly enjoy the river sunset on the deck; at night, fall asleep to the sound of the river. If you are planning a long-haul leisure trip of 10 days or more, this Yangtze River panoramic cruise route is absolutely an irreplaceable first choice.

Mountain Zen, Pilgrimage to Mount Jiuhua for Blessings — May All Wishes Come True — traveler post in Qingyang

Mountain Zen, Pilgrimage to Mount Jiuhua for Blessings — May All Wishes Come True

Escape the city's hustle and bustle and step into the Buddhist mountain wilderness. Walk step by step, and your mind will gradually calm with each step. Baisui Palace | The Mummy and Sleeping Buddha on the Cliff · Houses the mummy of the Ming Dynasty monk Wuxia. Refrain from loud talking and taking photos of Buddha statues inside temples. ▪️ Dress Code: Wear plain and modest clothing, avoiding short skirts, shorts, and tank tops. Jiuhua Mountain

Jiuhua Mountain is definitely worth visiting; it's truly a sacred place. It's very popular, and tickets were extremely difficult to get during the Spring Festival. Jiuhua Mountain is quite large, so it's best to stay overnight on the mountain. It snowed that day, so we saw beautiful snow-covered trees and rime ice. The night sky over Jiuhua Mountain is also stunning, with clear starlight. As for the food, it's Anhui cuisine, which is a bit salty; you can ask the restaurants to make it less salty. Overall, it's a very good place.

Jiuziyan Scenic Area

Being able to bring a dog on the cable car is commendable. It was very crowded that day due to the National Day holiday; we queued for an hour, but it was manageable after getting a number and exploring a bit more. There was heavy fog that day, so the scenery wasn't visible.

Jiuhua Street

Jiuhua Street is where the main temples of Jiuhua Mountain are concentrated, including Qiyuan Zen Temple, Huacheng Temple, Sandalwood Zen Forest, Shang Zen Hall, Yueshen Hall, Dizang Zen Temple and many other temples and monasteries. If a detailed tour takes most of the day, you can have lunch at Jiuhua Street at noon. So, overall, it is still worth visiting.

Zhaji Village

This ancient village, built in the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties, is well-preserved and restored. With mountains and water, the main attraction is the winding stream, which has a charming atmosphere. Besides the commercial street just inside the north gate, the shops along the stream are quieter, fitting the style of an ancient town. Many are family-run restaurants serving local cuisine. Prices are neither cheap nor too expensive, with clearly marked prices and transparent pricing. There are also plenty of affordable noodle shops and various snacks and desserts. Enjoy your visit and eat to your heart's content.

Jiuhuashan Tiantai Scenic Area

Jiuhua Mountain's Tiantai and Huatai areas are primarily natural attractions. Tiantai's highest peak houses the Ksitigarbha Sutra worship site. About 500 meters below Tiantai Peak, there's an ancient sutra worship site with the legendary giant footprints. Tiantai and Huatai are connected, and the main attractions are at the peaks. Climb to the summit to admire the magnificent peaks. Once you reach Tiantai or Huatai, there's no need to rush down. Follow the signposts and hike along the way to visit both. There are also Phoenix Pine trees 200 meters from the Tiantai cable car, which are also a must-see on the hike up Tiantai Mountain. However, the ascent is long, so it's not recommended for families. The hike takes about 2-3 hours for young and middle-aged people. I chose to take the cable car up and hike down.

Roushen Temple

After entering from the north gate, the temple buildings rise in tiers, magnificent and beautiful. You need to climb steps, but they aren't very high, about the height of an 8-10 story building.

Huatai Viewing Platform

Huatai Scenic Area (main peak 1299 meters above sea level) is one of the main scenic areas of Jiuhua Mountain (Jiuhua Mountain is divided into five major scenic areas: Jiuhua Street, Min Garden, Tiantai, Huatai and Kecun Scenic Area). From a geographical point of view, Huatai is located in the center of the entire scenic area. The "natural sleeping Buddha" presented by Huatai makes the entire Jiuhua Mountain full of mystery and aura. The natural landscapes such as "Natural Sleeping Buddha", "God of Wealth Min Gong", and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva "Borrowing Land for Robes" and other major Buddhist classic stories all come from Huatai. It is the birthplace of Jiuhua Mountain's Buddhist history and culture, and there is even a saying that "Buddha is in Huatai"

Baisui Palace

The Baisui Palace Scenic Area located in the front mountain of Jiuhua Mountain includes Baisui Palace, Dongya Zen Temple, Huixiang Pavilion and other scenic spots. You can choose to take the cable car or walk to go up and down the Baisui Palace, which is more convenient. The Baisui Palace cable car is a ground track, which is very safe and fast. After going up, you can see the natural reclining Buddha, so you need to choose a sunny day to see it. If it is a rainy day, it will be blocked by clouds and fog and you can't see it directly.
