🌿 How is living in Hamilton, New Zealand? 🇳🇿 — traveler post in Raglan

🌿 How is living in Hamilton, New Zealand? 🇳🇿

I wasn't expecting Hamilton to leave such a strong impression on me. It's not as famous as Auckland or Queenstown, but after spending a few days there, I started to understand why so many people choose to call it home. One morning, I walked to a local café before 8 a.m. The barista already knew the names of several customers, asking about their weekend plans as if everyone knew each other. That sense of community stood out to me. Life in Hamilton feels relaxed. The Waikato River runs through the city, and it's common to see people jogging, cycling or walking their dogs along the riverside before and after work. On weekends, families gather in parks while children play freely on large open lawns. Another thing I noticed was how easy everyday life seemed. Supermarkets, cafés, gyms and shopping centers were never far away, yet traffic felt much lighter than in larger cities. Hamilton also sits in a convenient location. Many residents take day trips to places like Hobbiton, Raglan or Waitomo Caves without needing to plan a long journey. It may not be New Zealand's most famous destination, but if you're looking for a quieter lifestyle with plenty of green spaces and a strong community feel, it's easy to see the appeal. 💬 Could you see yourself living in a smaller city like Hamilton, or do you prefer the energy of a big city? 🌳 #howislivingthere

Ride the waves in Raglan and experience the romance and passion of the seaside — traveler post in Raglan

Ride the waves in Raglan and experience the romance and passion of the seaside

Ride the waves in Raglan and experience the romance and passion of the seaside In Auckland, New Zealand, there is a small town famous for surfing—Raglan. When I set foot on this land, I was instantly conquered by its unique seaside charm. Among the many surfing schools, I chose Green Wave Raglan. I signed up for a weekend package with two classes, each lasting 3 hours. The school provides all the equipment, so you only need to bring a swimsuit and towel to start your surfing journey. Due to the weather and tides, class times may change slightly, so confirm your reservation in advance through the contact information on the official website to make your trip more secure. The surfing location is Ngarunui Beach, and the school's truck is already waiting in the parking lot. The facilities here are complete, with toilets, changing rooms, and showers. After changing into your gear, you can walk to the beach with your colorful surfboard, feeling more and more excited. The class begins with the coach leading us in a circle to stretch. Accompanied by the sound of the waves, we immerse ourselves in the healing embrace of nature. Then, the coach patiently explains the theory and safety knowledge on the beach and demonstrates the riding movements for us to practice. Once we are ready, everyone rushes to the waves. Although I was knocked over by the waves and fell into the water many times during the first class, the 4 or 5 times I successfully stood up were unforgettable. Every time I stood on the crest of a wave, time seemed to stand still, and the sense of accomplishment from conquering the waves was indescribable. Each group is equipped with two coaches who take turns helping us push the board and experience the wonderful moment of catching a wave. When the coach helped me successfully ride the crest of a wave, I fell in love with this sport. In Raglan, every wave is unique. Standing on the waves feels like embracing the world. This weekend, in this summer-style town, I rode the waves and gained a lot of joy and unforgettable memories.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves

The guide was so fun and knowledgeable, and everything went smoothly. It was all so beautiful and immersive — I felt completely drawn into the experience. The only downside was that there were no photos, but honestly, that was also one of the best parts! I was able to be fully present and really enjoy it.

Bridal Veil Falls

It takes 2 and a half hours to drive from Oran. The scenery is beautiful and suitable for taking children for an outing. Free attractions and free parking🆓 It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the bottom of the waterfall. It is a very worthwhile place to visit.

Hobbiton™ Movie Set Tours

While the meticulous set design, the stunning Waikato rolling hills, and finishing up with a drink at the Green Dragon Inn provide a genuinely charming afternoon, the ticket price and time commitment can certainly feel steep if you aren't emotionally invested in J.R.R. Tolkien's universe or Peter Jackson's films. For die-hard fans, it's an unforgettable pilgrimage, but for casual sightseers, New Zealand offers plenty of incredible natural landscapes that require no prior fandom to appreciate.

Ngarunui Beach

Please take your own shade and mat, it’s mighty hot on the sand. Had a fun time at the beach. The lifeguards were great and made sure folks knew where to swim. Waves were great for all surfing levels.

Sky Tower

This activity is a little thrilling, quite good, and very safe; I checked the safety belt several times. Originally, besides bungee jumping, there was also a skywalk, but due to unclear information in the travel advertisement, we only did the bungee jumping. There weren't many people doing it now. Afterwards, you get a free tour of the Sky Tower.

Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland

Overall totally worth the money! Be ready to spend about 2 hours if you want to walk through all three tracks (Walks 1, 2, and 3)—the scenery with the colorful pools and Champagne Pool is completely surreal. Important tip for Lady Knox Geyser: You have to arrive early and make sure you are there before 10:15 AM (it only erupts once per day, so don't miss it!). Give yourself plenty of time to drive over from the main park entrance to the geyser viewing area. Highly recommend adding this to your North Island itinerary!

Te Puia - Rotorua, NZ

We had a wonderful experience at Te Puia, and it is a must-see when visiting Rotorua. The attraction beautifully combines New Zealand’s geographical wonders with its rich Māori culture and history. If you want to experience both sides of New Zealand, Te Puia is definitely worth visiting. We learned a great deal about the country’s culture and history, and our guide was excellent, sharing interesting information throughout the experience. The kiwi birds were also a highlight and made the visit even more memorable.Overall, Te Puia offers a fascinating and meaningful experience that we would highly recommend.
