Matsuyama Castle, located in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, Japan, sits atop Mount Katsuyama at an altitude of 132 meters. It is one of Japan's only remaining "12 Castle Keeps" and a famous one of Japan's 100 Famous Castles. The classic way to experience Matsuyama Castle is to take the cable car or chairlift from the "Shigamoguchi Station" at the foot of the mountain, enjoying panoramic views of Matsuyama City and the Seto Inland Sea as you ascend.

🚠 Access Methods: Difference Between Cable Car and Chairlift The "Cable Car/Chairlift Combination Ticket" allows you to choose which mode of transport to use.

🔸Standard Cabin Cable Car: Large cabins, smooth ride, approximately 3 minutes one way. Suitable for seniors, wheelchair users, families with young children, travelers who are afraid of heights, or travelers going out in the rain.

🔸Single Chairlift: A single chairlift without windows or safety features, approximately 6 minutes one way. With its gentle breezes, open atmosphere, and thrilling experience, Matsuyama Castle is very popular with independent travelers. However, it closes on rainy days, and children are not allowed to ride alone.
