Went for lunch midweek.Very quiet - only one other table occupied.Food was excellent and service friendly and attentive. Easy free parking right outside too. What more do you need? Also, we ordered two glasses of champagne as an aperitif (well, we’re in the area). And you know some restaurants try and serve what’s left over from an already started bottle from the previous night? Well, they brought a fresh bottle and opened it at the table.. Bonus points.

We booked at the last minute having just arrived in the area for the first time, the food was really wonderful, and to drink champagne IN Champagne was better still. The staff were lovely and so professional, and although they didn't speak so much English and us minimal French we managed very well. A FANTATSIC first meal in France, and as good as we had hoped it would be

Great food, but portions were tiny given the price (and we have eaten at all the starred restaurants in the area, so the surprise is not because we're not used to the gastronomic format). For example, one of the dishes was "duck breast with caramelised apple" and we literally got a single slice of duck breast with a ball of caramelised apple approximately the size of a marble (and a few other garnished fit for a doll)... We had a five-course menu for 190€, we expected more than three bites per course.

The hotel is a very good quality product, a copy-coated garment and a fast and efficient service.

I always stop by on my way to Paris after a week in Champagne. It is always a MUST thing to do (for almost 10years). Classic Cuisine, outstanding service and beutiful atmosphere in the country side of Marne Valley. I highly reccomend this beutiful place !!!

We were here in Epernay almost exactly 5 years ago today. At that time we were told that Chez Max was the best restaurant in Epernay, reserved a table there, and had one of the most exceptional meals ever. We returned this week after 5 years, and we’re thrilled to be able to get a table at Chez Max again. We ordered exactly the same thing, rack of lamb and scallops, and the food, service, ambience, and overall experience were unparalleled. Certainly one of the best culinary experiences of our life. I could not recommend it more strongly. Enjoy!

Disappointing arrival, frontage was shabby and untidy. Welcome was OK but service was below expectations, very slow. Ambiance was missing, even our view out of the window was of ladders and scaffolding storage. Our starters were adequate. My wife's steak was good but my cote de boeuf was very fatty, sinewy and chewy. I do like blue beef but this was an error of mine, the cut was not suited to blue preparation. The vegetables were al dente and very good, however the serving was very small. The potatoes were very good. The selection of deserts scored 6 out of 10, not great. The restaurant was busy, a table of 7 ladies were next to us and added much to the slowness of service. The price paid was fair but, as the recommendation came from a Michelin Web site, it was priced as I expected but the quality was well below my expectations.Competition is tough so standards here must improve. I will eat there again, but I hope the service, ambience and food quality are much better.Overall 5/10 disappointing.

If you are in this area or visiting champagne houses in Epernay, this is a great place for a wonderful meal. The duck breast was recommended and it was the best I have had. Service was exceptional.

This well known little restaurant is no longer then it was before Covid. Less choice then before as starter in selfservice counter. The quality and choice of the main dish is poor. In the past the restaurant was always overfull now many tables were empty.... also less waitresses... Very pity, that restaurant was much better in the past...
