The Royal Palace of Naples is located opposite the magnificent Prebiscito Square. It was built by the architect Dominic Fontana in 1600 and has been remodeled many times since then. After the 18th century, it became the palace of the Bourbon Dynasty. On the eight huge walls on the front of the palace, there are eight marble statues of the important kings of Naples in the past, full of the charm of Baroque architecture. The imperial garden at the back was built in the 18th century, and there is a huge double staircase in the courtyard. Since 1925, the palace has served as the National Library.
