Named after Philadelphia celebrity Benjamin Franklin, the avenue starts at Philadelphia City Hall, runs northwest through Logan Circle, and ends in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Benjamin Franklin Parkway is the spine of Philadelphia's Museum District. Some of the city's well-known attractions are located here: Cathedral-BasilicaofSts.PeterandPaul, SwannMemorialFountain, Library, FranklinInstitute, Moore School of Art and Design (MooreCollegeofArtandDesign), Academy of Natural Sciences (AcademyofNaturalSciences), Rodin Museum, Eakins Oval (EakinsOval), and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The traffic roundabout under the steps of the Art Museum at the west end of the avenue is named Eakins Oval, named after the Philadelphia painter Tom Eakins. Many concerts have been held on this avenue. On July 2, 2005, the steps of the museum were set for the live Bafang's Philadelphia Live, where artists David Matthews Band, Union Park and Magic Red performed.
