Located 60 kilometers west of Wakkanai in the Sea of Japan, it is the northernmost island of Japan. Centered on Mount Rebun at an altitude of 490m, the surrounding area is a gentle hilly terrain with an area of 82km2. Due to strong westerly winds in winter, the west coast is full of cliffs. The name of the island comes from "repunshiri", which means "island on the sea" in the Ainu language. "Rishiri Rebunzo Lubetsu National Park" is also called "Floating Island of Flowers" because about 300 species of alpine plants bloom in summer, including those on the island such as Rebun Tomori, Rebun Bosphorus, etc. ” and is widely known.
