Old Union, a student activity center at Stanford University, was built in the early 20th century on the proposal of then-US President Hoover. At first, Old Union was used as a place for student gatherings, activities, and entertainment, with small auditoriums, restaurants, library and so on. For a while, some of the buildings were requisitioned as school administration offices. At present, all buildings have been restored to initial function and are open to students.
