One of several outdoor swimming areas in Zurich, I was pleased to have this place pointed out to me by a local upon arrival in the city. I really wouldn't have otherwise known it existed! I mean, honestly, who thinks of riverside "beaches" when thinking of Zurich? What this is, really: a social event. During the warmer months, hundreds of would-be residents-of-a-more-tropical-locale flock to this swimming area (a cement platform and roped-off area of the Lammat river), and others like it in the city, to enjoy some sun, splash around, and (most importantly), socialize. I ended up meeting some really neat people here, in the couple hours I spent lounging with my feet in the water (far too fearful to actually get in), who I was able to hang out with later that evening for a fun night out in a strange town. Highly recommended, if just as a sight-seeing expedition. Swimming holes are a significant part of Zurich's culture, so it's definitely worth checking out!
