Busan Bound | Korea's Santorini, right in Busan's Gamcheon Culture Village
❤ Busan is South Korea's second-largest city, extremely popular and no less vibrant than the capital, Seoul. Here you can find the winding Haeundae white sand beach, the bustling Jagalchi seafood market, the historic Dongnae hot springs, the youthful Seomyeon shopping district, and the colorful Gamcheon Culture Village.
🌟 Speaking of Gamcheon Culture Village, there's much to tell! At first glance, it's Korea's version of Santorini. Originally, it was a forgotten Moon Village, or rather, a slum of Korea, with just a nice name. Thanks to the joint efforts of local artists and islanders, the once gloomy and heavy area has been transformed into a rising tourist attraction in Busan with the addition of vibrant colors.
👍 Now, the place boasts the scenic beauty of Busan's mountainous fortresses, fairy-tale-like colorful houses, the beloved Little Prince and his fox, with every corner being a perfect spot for photos. Following the stairs of the Cheonghak-dong waterway up to the observation deck, you can overlook the entire Gamcheon Culture Village, as well as the lush green mountains, the deep blue sea, and the stunning sunset.
✅ Besides the scenery, Gamcheon Culture Village also has many souvenir shops selling local patterned scarves and other memorabilia. In the area, you can also taste many local specialties, such as fish cakes and fried fish. And when you're tired, there are plenty of cafes and cold drink shops for rest.
💰 Admission: Free, some small attractions charge a fee and tickets can be purchased on site.
🕙 Opening hours: All day.
🚉 Transportation: Generally, from Seoul to here, you can take a one-hour flight, or a KTX train for about 2 hours and 40 minutes. A special note, the prices for planes and trains are basically the same, so choose according to your needs. There's also a more economical option of taking an express bus, which takes over 4 hours, and traffic jams can extend the time, but the price is really attractive, only half the price of planes and trains.
📝 Note: Although Gamcheon Culture Village is a tourist spot, it is also home to a large number of residents, so it's important to keep quiet and not to take photos inside private homes.
📍 Address: 203 Gamnae 2-ro, Sasang-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, South Korea.
Nice place and have super nice view there and can capture very good photo over there
The village is so colorful and stunning! It’s easy to get lost but if you stay on the main road, you will be able to navigate the area. There are a ton of artistic murals. It’s fantastic that artists can paint the murals and express their creativity. There are a lot of great stores, coffee shops, restaurants and street food stands in the area.
Located uphill, taking the bus is the best way to get here. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here to explore the alleys and shops. There are restaurants at the entrance and little food stalls inside the village. You can buy a map from the tourist information center to collect stamps.
Gamcheon Culture Village, often referred to as the "Machu Picchu of Busan," is a captivating blend of art, history, and community. This hillside village, with its vibrantly painted houses and narrow alleys, offers a unique and picturesque experience. Each turn reveals whimsical art installations and murals, reflecting the creative spirit of the local residents. It's not just the visual appeal but also the stories and history behind Gamcheon that make it so special. This area, once a refuge during the Korean War, has transformed into a thriving hub of culture and art. A visit to Gamcheon Culture Village is like stepping into a living gallery, where every corner tells a story.
It’s okay here. Before you start shopping, you can go to 부평문화마을 spend 2000 to buy a map to stamp every place, but it’s a bit tired when you finish it. Contact your girlfriend or boyfriend husband and other tools. The local grandmother is also very enthusiastic. Sisters who want to lose weight can go.
There is no subway station near Ganchuandong Cultural Village. Some people will take a bus. From Tucheng Metro Station 6 Exit 3, take the bus to the bus station next to Busan University Hospital for about 10 minutes. But I recommend taking a taxi directly. XD From Tucheng Station, about 3500 Koreans. It’s about 20 minutes on the same day. The whole Ganchuandong Cultural Village is still full. Then if you want to take a photo with the little prince, you need to queue up. XD is about 20 minutes on the same day. The whole cultural village should be walking around and watching the flowers. It should be 2 an hour. I can’t run away. I’m tired. There are also many cute coffee nearby. You can sit in the hall!
Nice village and very calm. Cannot make noise as some of these houses are occupied with locals. Many cafes as well.
